This is one of those races where a good strategy makes a big difference. Be patient the first two miles on the Verrazano Bridge. Most of Brooklyn is flat so don’t get ahead of yourself go too fast. The second half has some inclines that can suck some energy out of you. The crowds can get you through all that.

This is not a physically demanding course but it is psychologically. There are some spots along the first half of the course lined with spectators. The second half of the course along the highway is solitary. if you like that alone time then this race is for you. If you feed off of the crowd energy you will not like the second of the race. Very few spectators.
