Nina Waste's Staging Area

A nice, scenic run on a mostly flat, paved course (there was a portion where it was gravel in the second portion of the run, but it didn’t last long). This was my first half-marathon, and I was really grateful I chose this race. It was well organized with lots of aid stations throughout and porta-potties at the beginning (no wait at all). As it was my first half, I appreciated how informative the race website, as well as the pre-race email, were – they helped me know what to anticipate and prepare for. The course itself ran along the river, with lots of shaded areas and bands playing live music along the way. We had perfect run weather that day, but I could imagine the stretches without tree coverage being less manageable if it were a hotter day. There isn’t a ton of crowd support as it’s a smaller race, and I also heard from other racers that they wish there were more porta-potties on the route so they didn’t have to wait in line and have it impact their time. Neither of those things was a factor for me, but I wanted to note it for others. Overall a terrific experience, and I can see this becoming an annual race for me.
