The Gobbler is a beautiful course running through horse farms and along a golf course. The scenery is really pretty, and it’s along well-maintained roads. There are no really huge elevation changes, but most of the course is small, rolling hills. The 2-hour pacer that I followed the whole way did a great job, and the aid stations were frequent and well-stocked. Not much in the way of spectators though.

The course at the Kentucky Horse Park is absolutely gorgeous scenery. There were a few extremely tight turns though, and several places where the horses had left smelly presents for the runners 😀
Pro tip: the north trail head for the Legacy trail is about a mile away. Parking there makes for a perfect pre-race warmup, though it does mean you have to walk a mile to get back to the car.

It was everything I expected from the Flying Pig team. We started right on time, had tons of aid stations (the tissues especially were appreciated since it was so cool outside!) and the few miles of rough paving were well-marked for hazards. The spectators were great too! The course can be challenging if you’re used to running in flat areas, so I recommend some hill training.

The race course at Talon Winery is very pretty, but the track at the beginning is not wide enough for the number of runners. There were some areas (the 5k/10k split and turnarounds) where course markings could have been better. I wouldn’t recommend this race if you’re looking for a personal best because the weather in late August in Kentucky is… less than ideal (really hot and humid). But at the end you get wine!

A great, well-managed run through downtown Lexington. The course itself isn’t crazy challenging, but I gave it 5 shoes because the heat and humidity were pretty rough. This race has lots of walkers, so plan to start near the front if you’re looking for a PR.
