This is an organized race that started right on time with scenic views. You run through town, neighborhoods, over the bridge (the only hills), and the boardwalk. It is a mostly flat course! There was lots of crowd support and plenty of aid stations. I liked the shirt (feel and color), the medal, and the towel I won for placing in my age group. The goodies after the race represented the popular boardwalk businesses – pop corn, taffy, doughnuts, Italian Ice, and pizza along with a variety of drinks – but no chocolate milk☹️. The staff I talked to were very nice and they would laminate award certificates after the awards presentation. The weather was perfect although a little breezy. If you are looking for a NJ race, I’d recommend this one!

The parking and shuttle worried me, but it went very smoothly. The bus was waiting to take us to the start and at the end we had to wait just a few minutes before we were shuttled back. The race started on a paved bike path. There were a few hills on this section of the race. As we went up the railroad trail and through the tunnels we ran on packed soil with some small rocks. After the last tunnel, the loop by Hoover Dam was the most challenging part of the course. It was steep and a little more rocky. The snacks were fine at the end – nothing too exciting. Awards were given out quickly, so not much waiting around. The shirt wasn’t a tech shirt, but I didn’t mind. The medal was nice. The age group award winners received a glass.
This was my Nevada race and I loved the views of Lake Mead and desert environment. A person played the bagpipes as we ran under the first tunnel which I thought was a nice touch. It’s a small race, but organized. The workers were friendly and helpful.
My husband ran the 5K and there was some confusion about the turnaround point.
