VERY FLAT, turn off your brain course. Just run straight until Mile 12. Spectators mostly at the Start & Finish line but can sometimes be found along the shoreline. I really enjoyed the positive and sometimes hilarious cheers from the water/electrolyte volunteers, they were great.

Post drinks from Fly Llama Brewing were great. Jambalaya from Uncle Larry’s was delicious.

Not for the faint of heart if you are trying to race, there be hills a plenty!

A great course if you are learning on how to conserve your energy for the first half of a marathon. This course starts you going up hill, then packed in like a sardine until after mile 2. The road finally opens up right before you start the incline going up to the bridge. Once on the bridge, not much room so have to pick your points when trying to move past runners. Slight downhill on a narrow dirt path under the bridge after mile 6. Then back uphill on the other side to run back across the bridge. Downhill at mile 9 before going flat until you reach mile 12. Uphill until the last 40m, which is a quick downhill and turn to the right for the Finish line.

A lot of freebies at the expo. Great weather to run the race. Very flat course, slight incline after mile 11. Water Works Park has a nice green scenery, but I wish there was more to look at than trees and trail path. I wish we had the chance to run around the Capitol building and surrounding memorials.

Flat course with only minor inclines around the bridges. Last 400m has a medium size hill to run up. Great crowd support throughout until after Chinatown where it can become scarce as you loop back around, then roars back after mile 24. Gear check drop off was easy but getting gear returned took forever (volunteer management issue). Bathrooms a plenty so do not feel you need to use the toilets as you enter through security. Gate security did a great job (I heard other gates had delayed entry times, not sure why).

Great weather. Great running spots (Pre’s Trail). The campus atmosphere is electric with previous greats shown at the track.

Rideshares become scarce starting on Friday & Saturday, so schedule ahead. Packet pick-up was a little disorganized with certain tables being unable to approach due to long line forming for other table packet pick-up.

Very simple course around the outside of the Zoo and along the Rio Grande. Shade most of the route. Narrow lanes due to being on the hike and bike trail. MORE
