Its 2nd time around. Last year, I enjoyed it so much that I signed up immediately for this year. During my run, I had no expectations other than knowing that I will encounter beauty in the nature surrounding me while putting myself through a challenging but fun course. It’s not easy to run at elevation when I don’t train in elevation. This year what made a difference truly is that my last year’s run motivated a big group of friends to come up and run with me. Last year it was me and my awesome bad ass triathlete friend who ran. This year, i ran with a big group of bad ass Spartans and guess what, we are inspiring even more people to sign up for 2019. The energy from this race is infectious to say the least. The course is breathtaking. The swag is awesome. I run for medals and like last year this medal rocks. I beat my last year’s time and I am proud, albeit by just 3 min. So What else can I ask for? More runners coming up to join this awesome race and I hope to crush my run time in 2019 by a bigger margin!

I had done a number of half marathons now but this one was a special one for me. I wanted to race above sea level this year and a great friend asked me if I wanted to join her. I was so hesitant and it took me a while to come to grips about going from 0′ to 7100′! My friend told me this is her 3rd year doing this race, I thought there must be something special. Wow I was blown away from the best swag sold at the pick up party (I literally wanted everything that said Rock Tahoe because they were all something I can wear after the race…rare!), energy from the runners, the medics on bikes looking out for folks needing to be taped up (and even a massage of tight muscles!), great aid stations, and the views along the run and the finishing sparkly gangster medal. Omg did I say the views??? I couldn’t help but stop many times to take in the views. Even with some of the moderately long hills, the emerald green water made up for it. I honestly felt so good after the race like I can just go on after. All said, one of the best races I have done and given the altitude, I was so darn proud of myself! Thank you Rock Tahoe. You gave me confidence that I never got from any other races I have done before. I now know I can push myself harder the next time (yes there is a next time!) was smiling cheek to cheek when I crossed the finish line. I simply love every moment.
