I really enjoyed this race. The course had a lot of variety! Urban running for the first several miles with some hills. Constant spectators for at least the first 3 miles. Running out to Drake through some neighborhoods and then running around the track! Then, I loved the last half on paved bike trails through large parks, through trees, around and over lakes. It was quite secluded (and peaceful), so not many spectators, but there were points in these areas where spectators did congregate. Near the end we did do a little out and back to add distance, but then we were back on the bike trail for a bit along the river, the. We turned a corner and we were back downtown and finishing the race.
I thought the puffer jackets were good (but I’m not a big fan of red). By the time I made it to the expo (I had ran KC Marathon for the I-35 challenge) there wasn’t really any race merch left. I would have liked a race t-shirt.

REVEL does a good job of providing options to help keep you warm while waiting for the race to start – since you have to be there so early for the point to point course: gloves, heat blanket, gear drop that doesn’t have to be dropped until 14 minutes prior to race start. Porta-potties at start of race were kind of a mess. Extended lines up until race start. This was really the only issue I saw.
Race course was beautiful. Mostly downhill. There is one section of pretty steep uphill, but then you get to turn around and run down it. The first 5 miles are the fastest with the rest being flat or slightly downhill. There may have been some rollers, but I really didn’t notice much uphill (except for the one mentioned, and one other near the finish). Weather was great. Finish line in town with lots of spectators.
