The beginning of the race runs along Congress and 1st street, which have great shops. After we cross the bridge, we are near the Colorado River. We run near lake Austin into residential neighborhoods. We finish at the capital. There are a lot of steep hills. There is so crowd support. Austin is an arty and fun city to explore.

The course runs along the river. It is beautiful to pass by the water and see the trees. They change color at the time of year the race happens to be, which makes it wondrous. It is a quiet race until you get to the falls where there is the loud water and some spectators at the finish line. Horseshoe falls is powerful and leaves you in awe. This year, the weather was fabulous of blue skies, no head wind and sunshine. There are also fun things to do in the area during your stay after or before the race.

It starts on top of a hill where the sun rises and you get to look out on the view. The race is well organized. People are able to pick up their bibs on race morning if they prepay in advance. There is not a lot of things to purchase such as race t-shirts, which makes it a great race for runners who are not materialistic. The race is about the scenery. It is a combination of wine country and forest. The spruce trees around and near the wine country are lovely. It is peaceful to run through it. The race has moderate hills. It ends in a cute small town called Carlton with local stores.
