This is my second year running this Trail Race. I loved it the first year but ran with an injury, so I was back for more and fully rehabbed this year! I thought it was hard last year because of my injury, but this year, I found out, NOPE! It’s just hard in general! The hills are just insane, but worth every heart-pounding moment! The views CANNOT be beat, it was absolutely gorgeous after all the rains too. Weather was optimal – nice a cool at the start and got only slightly warmer throughout the race. The production always has gone off without a hitch and I love all the volunteers and aid stations since this is such a grueling race for any distance! I will be back next year for sure! Maybe the half again to make a better time…. or maybe, just maybe… if I’m out of my mind enough, I will do the 50K!

They adjusted the course from the prior inaugural year, which made me SOOO happy since I was still recovering from and IT band injury. There was more of the run on trail compared to the road (which I preferred). There was still wonderful and gorgeous scenery and awesome swag, like the t-shirts (which I bought the one in the photo) and the HUGE medals! I still found the town a bit small and sometimes boring… but then again, you’re meant to go to Yosemite park for the fun right? You can’t ever beat the scenery of Yosemite. It’s just so unique and almost out of a dream. Next year, they moved the race into May, which is a bummer for me because October worked out so well in terms of work and weather (I prefer colder climate to run). However, I am dying to go back for another run there and this time, I will be camping in the park!

This is, by far, one of my favorite races! Between staying in beautiful Jackson Hole to visiting Yellowstone to running the whole 13.1 miles with an incredibly stunning view of the Grand Tetons, it was so hard to leave! I made a short 3 day trip out of it and I wish it had been a week! The weather was chilly in the morning and sunny but not too hot in the afternoon. The race swag was awesome (smores and a HUGE medal were some of my favorites!). I have done the Vacation race in Yosemite too but the Grand Teton half is one I will want to do every year if I can!! Just. Plain. Gorgeous!

This is, by far, one of my most beloved trail runs! It is a serious kick-you-in-the-butt course! I loved it! I was still recovering from a major IT band injury, so I was forced to walk the last 8 miles. Moreover, I don’t know how, but I got lost with a friend and we were VERY off course! So, that didn’t help my time but oh well! The scenery, let me tell you, I grew up in Santa Clarita and I had no idea we have trails this beautiful! Very green and luscious and the hills are seriously killer! They had plenty of aid stations with a variety of food for all the racers and the volunteers were dressed up and cheering us all on. The swag was awesome! I loved my bag they gave out and the medal was big and beautiful as well! My favorite part of the swag? My free sunglasses! Oh and our Valencia mug! I’m doing this run every year!

I’ve always loved Yosemite and I was excited for this Inaugural Half! It was 13.1 miles almost all downhill. While this sounds amazing and I PR’d this course, my knee didn’t quite agree with how awesome I felt during the run! Alas, that is my own fault for not managing proper form while running. Anyway, I PR’d this half marathon and I’m still so proud of it! It was a beautiful course, mostly on road. It was chilly in the morning but it warmed up quickly. Oakhurst is a little town and has a limited amount of things to do and places to eat, but the fact you can go see Half Dome and Nevada Falls, among other amazing scenery, is all I needed to hear! I love the clubs they have to encourage people to hike the trails and explore the national park. It really makes it a mini-vacation! I did this run again the next year just because it was so much fun!
