RD Shelli Sexton and family are delighted to invite you to the annual running of Nanny Goat 6/12/24/100. The race will take place over Memorial Day Weekend.
As in previous years, RD Shelli Sexton and family are opening up their home, a private horse ranch in Riverside, CA to host the race. The course is a flat, 1-mile, mostly dirt/grass loop with good footing and a trail wide enough to allow easy passing. Support is never more than a half mile away.
The goal is to complete as many laps as possible within the allotted time, either solo (6hr, 12hr, or 24hr) or as a relay team of up to 4 runners (24hr). Participants entered in and who finish the 100-mile race in under 30 hours will receive a buckle; those finishing sub-24 hours will receive a special buckle. Relay teams who complete a cumulative total of 100 miles within 24 hrs. receive a special relay team buckle (one buckle for each team member). Participants entered in the 6hr, 12hr and 24hr races will receive a cool T-shirt, drop bag with awesome running swag and a medal. Now, please note, all runners who complete one lap qualify for a medal, so please don’t leave without yours!
Nanny Goat has always been a family and crew friendly race. We are so excited that we will again be able to offer the Nanny Goat experience including camping, swimming, room for kid’s to play and tent, trailer or RV camping welcome. All participants are required to understand, agree to, and follow the rules. We have just a few. Up-to-date information will be emailed to all registered runners the weeks leading up to the race. So excited!!

This race is different from most of the races I’ve done. I did the 12 hour races so I already knew my finishing time when I started. Instead the goal is to run as many miles in that time as possible I had volunteered at this race many year and it always looks like everyone was having a great time so I was happy to finally do it.
It seems like everyone in the race knows each other. Partly that is due to the course. The course is a 1 mile mostly dirt, mostly flat loop, and runs through a barn, by the one support station. So you are continually passing or being passed by other runners. There is an out and back section, and you get to see everyone coming and going. Although the support station is well stocked you can also park your car on the course and pass that every mile also.
I admit it is difficult doing the same loop hour after hour. But you are never alone and never far from support. It can get a bit warm later in the day. The out and back section is exposed, but most of the rest of the course is in the shade.
The race shirt was really nice as was the smiling goat finishing medal. And since I hit the 50 mile mark I also got a charm for that. Plus there was a photographer who gave out free pictures afterwards.
I would recommend this race. I definitely see why people keep coming back to it and I plan to do it again next year.
