Fantastic race all around. Good support, and fast course! I want to try and run this race every year because I can use it for a PR. This is an ideal course to qualify for Boston BAA Marathon. It can be a little windy but often times the wind blows in the ideal direction for most of it. The time of year is also usually ideal as it’s not too hot or cold and most years there is fairly clear weather

The organization was the best I’ve ever seen in any race, bar none. It’s a really fast course with excellent support and the crowd is great. You really get a feel for the city (unlike Boston) and the temperature is almost always perfect. I was coming off a bad injury and hadn’t even run for an entire month but was so happy running this I performed much better than expected. If you want a PR then THIS truly is the race to run!

They started walkers in large groups hours before our start. At all of the most critical miles (around 15-24) I couldn’t get to the few Aid Stations that were actually available because these walkers crowded around them socializing and relaxing. On the course I ran almost an additional 3/4mls running around these groups blocking us at every turn. It was maddening to see all my hard training wasted as I slowly became more and more dehydrated. Of course, the addition of an almost 1 mile steep uphill around mile 6 wasn’t ideal, nor was the grueling uphills nearing the end, but they certainly would have been more tolerable with decent organization (and some common sense planning).

Weather can always be a big factor in your performance but the scenery coupled with the excellent race organization makes this one of my all-time favorites! The only problem I have is with the last couple of miles. They are really tough (and often times it starts to get hot around that time), right next to lots of traffic, and you have to dodge slower Half runners on tight sidewalks. All the views and mostly fast, downhill course up to that point make it alright though.
