This is great race to do if it’s your first ultra. It was mine and I am glad I signed up for this one. The aid stations are perfect. They had everything I needed. It does have a couple of steep hills but not too bad. The course is primarily flat. I highly recommend practicing on paved roads. The packet pick up bag had good stuff. The tech shirt is superb. I highly recommend booking a hotel in advance. All hotels were fully booked in the area.

If you are looking for a Louisiana Marathon do this one. The course is flat just watch out for potholes. Expo was small but had everything you would look for. There are no corral starts so get there early. The pacers in the race are amazing. They get the job done. Water stations were perfect. Best part is that the neighborhoods I ran through gave the best support. They offered water, pickle juice, tissue, gummy bears …etc. Another special touch is that you get your pictures for free. No need to spend your money on finisher pictures. I had the time of my life. I would consider doing it again.

This marathon did not disappoint. The expo was smooth and great. I came out with so many goodies. Inside the swag bag I found mittens and a foil blanket (had no idea why). I got on the shuttle bus to the start line and decided to take the mittens and blanket, so glad I did. Up in the mountains the wind chill was in the 30’s. I was freezing in my shorts and tank but the mittens and blanket helped a little. What. I really like the best of the marathon is that it has a 6am start. As the race started the sunrise was coming up across the mountains. WHAT A SIGHT! The first 6 miles are just so beautiful and super downhill. This marathon will make you get a PR. The finish line was perfect. Super organized.

I decided to run this race as a vacation race with the kids. I am so glad I did it. I had no idea it was during the summer solstice so to see the sun 22 hours a day was so cool. The expo was small but had many vendors. Was able to purchase a marathon poster. Race morning was chilly but it warmed up fast. When the race started it was super congested. It was pretty bad for the first 3 miles, the course was a narrow trail. Not many people ran the marathon so when the half and the marathon split it was pretty lonely. Towards the middle of the marathon there is a trail you run thorough. It was pretty tough running through gravel since I never run trails. The finish festival was great, I suggest you stay and relax at the festival.

I decided to do this race because of all the hype. Well the hype was real. The production is really organized. The shirt and medal are superb and I just love how we all started at the same time, no waiting around.
I signed up and was terrified to find out about the course. I saw the elevation map and decided to add hills to my training. Still worried about the course map I decided to add 10 additional minutes to my goal time. The race has many pacers. So I decided to run with one of them and it was the best thing to do. My pacer kept me going and I guided me through the hills. When the hills were over around mile 19 I decided to take off and finished strong and I beat my goal time. Ladies do not forget to pick up your lipstick on mile 26!

From the beginning the race organizers keep you up to date with details. When I arrived to Berlin I knew exactly where I was going. Do not be afraid about how packed it is at the EXPO, it goes by really quick. I highly recommend purchasing the swag with your entry. It was so smooth to receive my bib and my merchandise. Race day – If you have to go to the potty, make sure you do not go to the ones as you arrive. Keep walking, keep walking, keep walking the restrooms right next to the start line are empty. Race itself is super flat and weather in Berlin is a bonus. Enjoy the views and the race.
