It was a wet day so trails were pretty muddy. It’s technical with rocks and roots and a creek crossing. Trail was pretty well marked overall. Local businesses provided snacks afterwards. The pizza was exactly what I needed after crossing the finish line. Also the time of year for the race allows for seeing some great fall foliage.

The Lakes Trailfest 50k was awesome. This course was deceptively challenging. At the race’s highest point you never really exceed 300’ above sea level, however, there was over 4000’ of total ascent and descent. Moderately technical with roots and several small and manageable obstacles (like small logs or trees that required stepping over). We had amazing weather for this race (a bit chilly but sunny). I could see this being a very slick course if the rain is really coming down. I may do this again next year but going into it knowing it’s harder in person than on paper.
Beautiful coffee/beverage mugs for finishers instead of medals. Which in my opinion is better anyway.
This race is in autumn, so the leaves were changing and falling and just added to the beauty. Runners go by multiple lakes throughout the course. Course markings were flawless. No issues in finding the way.
Overall, 5 star race!

Easily one of the best races out there. So organized and lots of aid stations along the way for water. The community comes out in force and makes this an extremely enjoyable event. Literally felt like there were people cheering everyone on about every mile. Vibes for this one are hard to beat.

I ran under the midnight sun and never needed the aid of a headlamp or light source. I witnessed the sun setting just under the horizon only to see it rise a few hours later.
I plan to be back to run the 135 miler.
I 100% would recommend this race!
Such a great way to spend the summer solstice.

This was my first 100 miler and I was very happy with it!
The course is a 2.5 mile loop with an aid station located at the start/finish line for each loop.
Great race vibes, great race directors, great aid station, great photographers. Everyone was very encouraging.
The location is beautiful and unique. You won’t get different scenery beyond the loops but what you will get is awesome people encouraging you most steps of the way.
Plus if you’re doing 100 miles, you WILL get 40 opportunities to see something you might’ve missed on a previous lap. Also running along vineyards under a full moon is pretty epic.
If you’re a buckle collector this is a great one to add to your list, If you’re a first timer, it’s also a great one to add as there is a lot of support.
The swag is also some of the best I’ve seen out there for the races I’ve run.

Amazing location! Great aid stations. Well-organized event.
The scenery and challenges were great. Sandstone slot canyons, ladders and cables up and down into canyons. The soft sand posed an additional challenge but it was well worth the effort.
If I could suggest only one change (and this would be of benefit for runners trying to hit a certain time) it would be to come up with a system at the bottlenecks (big ladder sections) where those aiming for a time could bypass those that are more leisurely. I f would’ve fallen into the leisurely category most likely, but without the bottlenecks my time would’ve been about an hour faster.
Aside from that feedback this is a 100% must do race. I would do it again and again and again!

Some great race gear, great organizers and a great location. Plenty of parking available for all of the racers.

Pretty flat trail with the occasional hill. Aid stations are pretty basic but also pretty evenly spaced over the course.
They even have a random drawing for participants of each of their races to win a free flight with Alaska Airlines.
