Ran this race last year and came back again so you know I love it (I try not to repeat races, as I am trying to run the 50 states.) This is one of my favorite races ever. Aid stations are almost every mile with various food – some have watermelon, popsicles, pickle juice and other goodies. The volunteers are so friendly. The shirt was really great this year as well as the huge medal that opens up – very creative! I’ll be back!

Ran this race the year the course was changed to an out and back due to the road crumbling. It was a beautiful course and so happy we did it! The start and finish line were very crowded. This year evryone started together (except the shorter distances.) They had coffee, tea and water. Needed more port-o-pots. I enjoyed the out and back. We got to see everything twice – the piano player and the drummers. Aid stations wered fine. A lot had fruit after half way and there was a strawberry stop (so good!) The scenery was the just the best. The hill were tough but I perservered. At the end they had vegetable soup (not hot enough) & handed out a box of food that was just okay & one free beer. The bag pick up was very organized. Wish they had a tent for runners to sit under after the race. The sun was blazing & we just wanted a place to sit down in the shade & enjoy or beer. We plan to go back next year to do the original course.

This race is one I recommend to everyone. First off the start area has plenty of port-o-pots & also has a bag check area. The race started right on time. Plenty of aid stations and a lot of stations set up by spectators that are so good – chips, candy, beer! Loved it. The course starts in downtown and then heads over to the LSU campus & goes around a beautiful lake. You then head into residential areas that are very pretty. It ends back in Baton Rouge. It is a fast course & if I wasn’t trying to do so many different marathons a year then I would try & come back and PR. (Eventually I will be back!!) The food at the end is delicious! A few different choices of gumbo and jambalaya and also beer. You really can’t beat it.

We were bussed to the start at about 6am from the finish. It started in Harper’s Ferry National Park. The course starts there and then we ran though some trails and a field and back to a road. Eventually ended up on the C&O canal trail. I was having GI issues so this race felt even harder to me. Needed more port-o-pots on this course. Around mile 16.5 you head to the hills and you then run through a battlefield. This part was so challenging. I would suggest wearing trail shoes for this race. You end up back on the flat trail and then on to the finish. Wish the aid stations had more food – this felt like an Ultra! They had pizza at the end and also a free beer at the after party. It was fun but we were both exhausted.

I would recommend this race to all marathon runners – it is well run and was such a great time. Packet pick up was smooth at the Belfry high school and they had a pasta dinner for $10, which we had. The morning of the race we parked in Williamson, WV and were bused about 2 miles to the Belfry high school in Kentucky. We sang the national anthem and the race started right on time. I just loved this course. It was mostly on back roads and on some rail trails. So beautiful that I just enjoyed my surroundings and didn’t listen to any music. There are 26 aid stations!!! So much great food – every station had water, gatorade and bananas and various others had watermelon, oranges, chips, pickle juice, candy, cold sponges, ice, suncreen, vasoline, and one had freeze pops and another a misting station. There were enough port-o-pots at the start and throughout the course. Very cool medal. I highly recommend this marathon and will definitely be running it again.

The part of the course that goes along Lake Erie is so beautiful and I love running through the woods on trails for a bit. The long sleeve shirt is great. My only complaint is there are not enought port-o-pots on the course. I ran this race while pregnant and had to go every mile and there was no place to go.

Very tough race for me. The altitude really got to me as well as the downhill. I did not enjoy running on the side of a two lane highway with trucks flying and the cant of the road caused left knee pain which led to my knee locking up around mile 20. The course was pretty with the mountains. This was very well organized and everything was planned well. They let me take an earlier bus since I showed up early which I really appreciated because it got hotter and hotter as the morning went on. Nice lunch at the end but I missed having a beer.

Ran this race during Covid times so everything was most likely different than usual. Easy packet pick-up at the local running store. I know they changed to course to double loop. It was rainy and windy and even hailed a one point. The course was very pretty – a few miles on easy trails and along Lake Erie and the leaves were beautiul. They has frequent aid stations with water and gatorade. No food at the end due to covid. They did hand us a pretty medal wrapped up and we got a nice long sleeve shirt that I won’t wear to run in (it’s a hybrid material but feels like cotton) but will definately wear a lot. Overall I thought this was a great race. Thank you to all the volunteers who stood out there in elements to take care of us. Thought they did a good job at social distancing and the race was small, so it was very easy to stay 6 feet from other runners.

Overall this was a great race weekend! We hit up the expo on Friday and they had craft beer samples. The shirt is a soft short sleeve shirt that is super comfortable. I’ve worn it running and just around. They also gave out a nice reusable bag. On to the actual race. Plenty of port o’pots at the start (I didn’t even wait in line) although I wish they had more along the course as I had to stop and wait during the race itself. Free coffee while waiting. The race started right on time, which I loved. Course was mostly flat and really nice. It went around a beautiful lake. Plenty of aid stations and some spectators also were giving out candy, water, & Rice Krispie treats. Afterwards they have an amazing party. You have 6 tickets & there are multiple food vendors handing out Jambalaya, Gumbo, King Cake, etc, and also a craft beer tent. Best post race food I’ve ever had! This race is a hidden gem.

This race was challenging, but absolutely gorgeous. Packet pick-up was easy the day before (they also had race day packet pick-up). I arrived at the start an hour early and was one of the first people there. It is a smaller race and if you are staying close enough to walk or shuttle, you could get there by 8:15 am (starts at 8:30) and still use the port-o-pots (no line!!) The race started time and we headed across a bridge & down to the Canal Path. We ran alond therefor a few miles and then the hills started. They were through Antietam National Battlefield. The course was so beautiful that I didn’t mind them. I wasn’t running for time, just to have fun. We finished on the 50 yard line of their college stadium which was so cool. After they had pizza, bananas and apples and then we headed to the Baviaran Inn for our free pint glass and beer. Overall just the best race experience. I loved it and cannot wait to head back to tackle the full marathon.

This was my 9th marathon and probably the “easiest” (is any marathon really easy?) course I’ve run so far. The course was really beautiful – some earlier miles we ran through a state park and later miles were on a trail which was very nice for my aching legs. The race started right on time at 7am. The volunteers were amazing! Cheering everyone on and helped me get water to refill my bottle. They were all upbeat and smiling and I was so appreciative of that. They handed out Gu at 3 different spots and around mile 21 they had gummy bears and M&M’s. Not much crowd support if you need that but I really don’t. After the race they had a party for the runners at Grotto Pizza with unlimited Pizza, salad, pasta, chicken fingers and 3 beers! It was so much fun! The weather started off mid 50’s and misting but cleared up and was mostly overcast and 60. I loved everything about this race and I highly recommend it!

Loved this race! So much fun to run through such a beautiful city. It was hot the year I ran this so that’s why I gave it a 2 for difficulty. If the weather was a usual April day I would give it a 1. Only complaint is not enough port-o-pots.

I loved this race. Weather started out cool and was perfect. There were a lot of spectators and the half ran through some great neighborhoods. There was chocolate milk at the finish along with other snacks and free hoagies. The only problem was with the bag drop pick-up. It was chaotic and even though I waited in line, people that came up from the finish were pushing to the front of the line so it took me an hour to get my bag. It has deterred me from bag drops for bigger races.

This was Pittsburgh’s comeback marathon after a hiatus. As hard as this marathon was, I loved it. It was cool with a light rain at times, perfect running weather for me. To this day, this race remains my PR. I didn’t like the shirts this year because they were way to big and cut for men, but they now have much better women specific shirts. It was such a fun race with a lot of spectators and a lot of hills. Great showcase of all the cities neighborhoods.
