No frills race. Super easy to participate from packet pick up the day of the event to the ample parking. The course is easy and nicely shaded, but beware there isn’t water stations scattered throughout the race and this years field of runners were very fast. I ran a 2:52 and came in last, whereas in other races there are usually lots of people behind me. The people running the race were super nice and didn’t mind at all that I was pretty far behind everyone else, since there was a 3.5 hour time limit. Also, think about personal hydration since there isn’t water between miles 3.5-9, so running 6 miles in heat/humidity without water is challenging. If you’re looking for a no frills race just to get out and run, this is a good one.

This race is awesome! You run through Stuart and Sewall Point, which offers lots of views of amazing houses and coastal scenery, I only gave it a 3 for difficulty since you do have to go up and back across the causeway bridge which is a climb and it’s Florida so it’s humid. The course is very well marked and there are lots of water and Gatorade stops, also some locals were out with oranges, pickles etc. The finish line had a nice little event in the local park and the Boys Scouts served pancakes and sausage which was an awesome post-race snack!

This is a wonderful small scale race. The production team does a great job of marking the course and it was awesome to just roll up on race day and grab your bib. The scenery is gorgeous, especially on a sunny early fall morning. Be advised this race is on state park trails which contain a lot of uneven surfaces, so if you have sensitive hips this might not be for you. This one is well worth the lower cost compared to other bigger races with more bells and whistles

This is a beautiful course, starting in downtown Marquette and running along the waterfront, but unfortunately it wasn’t well marked and we didn’t get a map in our pre-race registration bag. I’m not from the area so I had no idea where I was going. They did a nice job blocking off intersections because you have to cross some busy ones, but I got slightly turned around twice, since I wasn’t running in the main pack. I would have liked more water stations at the start of the race, the first one wasn’t until mile 3, and it was humid that morning. If you pick races for swag/food, I wouldn’t suggest this one, there was a weird selection of tubs of cream cheese spreads, chocolate milk and bagel pieces at the end all left on a table in the sun. I’m not a fast runner so I get it that most people had already finished and it was just the leftover food that was on the table, but still that could have been managed a bit better. If you aren’t into swag and run for scenery then this is a good one.

The race production team did a good job and the course is very well marked with adequate water stations, but running in AC is like stepping back in time and not in a good way. There was police presence throughout the run and it doesn’t feel unsafe or anything but this city is well beyond its prime, unfortunately.

I ran the west course of the half, which takes you down the island and up over the bridge. The elevation gain isn’t horrible but you have to run it out-and-back so if you never run hills this might slow you down. There wasn’t anything special about this one except maybe the medal size (it’s called BAM for a reason). Everyone there was super nice and the BBQ at the end was amazing! I thought it was pricy for what you got and there isn’t much to do in this area outside of the race itself.

The production of this race was wonderful and how can you beat mini homemade pumpkin and chocolate pie at mile 10? The course is very nice, taking you from the harbor around the city and even into Old Dominion campus. I love the sweatshirt (well not the color), it’s extremely soft and warm which was needed because it was cold and windy that day!

If you want a low key race, this is for you. The course is a mostly flat, dirt/crushed rock path through the watershed, which means it is very scenic and shady. There isn’t many opportunities for spectators or cheering fans, and there aren’t DJs blasting music at the aid stations, but the course is simple and everything is well done. At the end there was a great lunch spread with subs (hoagies to anyone who is from this area of PA) fruit, chips and these amazing raisin cookies. Great summer race!
