Well organized and supported race in Oak Ridge. Scenery was great along the water, otherwise pretty typical residential/small city views. The course was well marked and it felt like all turns and intersections were manned with helpful volunteers/police. Not a lot of spectator support, but aid stations were full of enthusiastic and helpful people. The race started a few minutes late, which is a pet peeve of mine, but otherwise seemed very well directed. I wouldn’t have called this course “almost flat” but the hills were pretty gentle, especially for East TN. Loved how quickly they had results up and the finishers medals were fun.

Overall, this is a great race. There were aid stations almost every mile towards the end of the course, which was a lifesaver for me. There was also some really beautiful scenery along the greenways, but it does get a little lonely, as in there were long stretches when I was literally by myself without anyone else in sight. The hills weren’t overly challenging for East TN, and running along the bridges was worth the climb. The race director and volunteers did a fantastic job before, during, and after the race and it was a great experience.

This was a beautiful, but very challenging course. Constant hills and lots of full sun, especially towards the end. Temperatures were high this year, which made it extra challenging. It was a very small race, but the t-shirts, medals, and post race food were top notch. It was not chip-timed, but it was small enough that gun time was probably just as accurate. It’s a little off the beaten path, but if you’re willing to get there and you’re up for a challenge, it’s a great race.

Overall, this was a really great race and my first experience with Vacation Races. They did an outstanding job with every aspect. The pre-race info packet was the best I’ve ever seen and the expo and races were run well. While shuttling to the start line so early isn’t ideal, VR did a great job handling traffic, parking, the shuttle, and keeping people awake at the start line. Thank you Vacation Races for a great weekend!
