This 10k ran through one of the new Toledo Metroparks and took a quick trip over to downtown. I thought it was one of the best Toledo courses I have done! It was a flat and fast course that ran along the river. The medal you get is very cool and the production is near perfect. Would highly recommend this race!

The race starts off strong, with a mostly flat and fast first eight miles. I felt like I was cruising, hitting my target splits and feeling fantastic. However, somewhere around mile 8, the humidity must have caught up with me. My legs started to feel heavy, and I struggled to maintain pace for the rest of the race. It was a classic “bonking” scenario. The streets were lined with spectators who cheered non-stop, their energy a much-needed push when I felt like giving up. While the community support was fantastic, a minor disappointment was the lack of 1:35 and 1:40 pace groups. Not the end of the world, but it was a bit of a surprise on race day.

The course itself has a couple of memorable features to note. You run over a grated drawbridge. While it’s a neat experience, you have to be careful with your footing to avoid turning an ankle. The biggest challenge, though, comes late in the race. At mile 12(ish), the high-level bridge presents a tough incline. It’s a brutal climb, especially after you’ve already pushed yourself for the previous miles. It’s a moment that tests your mental and physical fortitude. The saving grace is that you get the decline as you make the turn onto the home stretch. You then cross the finish line on a gentle incline, but thankfully the crowd “brings you home” and you hardly notice.

Overall, I would definitely recommend this race. A lot of my “cons” were due to my personal running. The race coordination itself was amazing and I would love to run the course again!

The race began super early in the morning in a very congested area by the drawbridge. The weather was very stormy and HUMID. None of the races got delayed or cancelled, though. The course went through a couple neighborhoods, along a boardwalk, and on a bikepath along the highway. The boardwalk was super slippery because of the rain. We didn’t really get to see the lake too much except near the very narrow turn around point. The other runners were super supportive which made up for the lack of course support. The medal was one of my favorites that I have gotten. Overall, the race was solid. If I didn’t have other races to compare it too, my rating would have been higher.

This was one of the smaller races I’ve done (1200 people) but it was still so fun! The packet pick up took no time at all and we got a nice cozy sweatshirt, a long sleeve tech shirt, and a hat. The medal at the end was top notch too! I ran with the 1:40 pacers almost the whole time and they were amazing! They were very helpful and knowledgeable about the course. I seriously don’t think I could’ve reached my goal without them. Overall, it was a solid race!

This was my first full marathon, but it was amazing! The weather was mid 40s when I started and rose to mid 60s when I finished. The course was flat with great crowd support for most of it. I will say the back half of the course was more hilly, but that just means more downhills 🙂 The course is also set up so that your friends and family can navigate around to see you at multiple spots. The finish line gave me chills. I don’t think there was an empty place along the last part of the route. This was absolutely a wonderful fall race! Would highly recommend!

Loved running over the Ambassador Bridge and back through the tunnel. Besides the Bridge hill, the others sneak up on you. My quads are still burning! It was a wonderful course, well coordinated, awesome crowd support, and a TON of runners. The after party wasn’t set up yet when I finished and you didn’t get any free warm food or drinks after. Not a deal breaker for me, though. I had a great experience!
