– Loved the pacing group I ran with for a majority of the race. Both pacers were great at encouraging water and fuel. Kept the pace very consistent and helped get us up the tough bridge twice.
– I thought it was pretty cool to run through the beach front and see the military base. Also seeing the lighthouse was one of the highlights.
– I really enjoyed running down the pier at the end and then the party at the beach was pretty fun.

– Overall the race was amazingly put on. From the starting corrals, party zones and the downhill finish. Every year for a marathon, Richmond does a great job.
– They served Nuun and water at every water stop during the half marathon course. The pours were pretty generous so there was no need to carry more then a hand held water bottle while running
– The pacers I had for the 1:50 pace group were amazing. They broke down the strategy, hit the paces they said and ended with everyone in the group going 1:49:50. This was more impressive since even with a small addon they were able to adjust and not do a crazy mile to “catch up”.
– For the half there was a ton of people around the the course yelling and cheering. It was great and gave a lot of support.
– When you completed the race there was a tad bit confusion on what line to get for medals. I saw a lot of 8k runners go to the half line and vice versa. Then a little bit walk to get the blankets but everyone got their hat really quick.
– The only negative was that the course was about .076 longer due to a bad marking in the park. Mistakes happen but Richmond did post about it.

First this is a great race to do if you want to try a half. The 3.5 hour time limit is more then enough to finish and the race atmosphere is just amazing. Listed below are some of the bullet points.
– No corrals was difficult for the first 2-3 miles due to having a bunch of runners bunched together.
– Aid stations were perfectly located throughout the course. The aid volunteers were super friendly and cheering you along.
– Different then most of my halfs I have run, there was only cheering sections at the starting line and the rest of the race it is just quite.
– Finally overall the race was amazing.
