I’ve run this race almost every year for 13 years. It’s a fun jaunt in support of a good cause! It’s pretty simple but the organizers do a good job. No T-shirts but I did get a nice insulated tumbler this year.
I like the route down through Dornix Park; however, with the heavy rain this year it was kind of a swamp down there and you couldn’t avoid getting wet. The weather was just right for running—often it’s quite hot by the time the race starts at 8:30. Wasn’t my best race since I’m out of shape right now but I had a good time running it!

While this was not my personal best race, time-wise, I really enjoyed it. All the production aspects were smooth and I really appreciated the frequent aid stations, as I ended up needing the Porta-potties a couple of times and they were right there when I needed them. The weather was just right, the scenery was gorgeous!
It would’ve been fun to see Mt Rainier during the race but the early morning cloud cover prevented that. It was clear and sunny later in the day, though, and we had great views when we drove through the park.
I don’t know that I actually will do this race again, since it was kind of a major trip for my family, but I’m really glad I did and would highly recommend it.
Also, I love the medal with the scene of Mt Rainier and wildflowers.

Plenty of aid stations, smooth and easy-to-follow course, nice changes of scenery, and a nice morning for a run. I had a great time. The morning was overcast but turned out to be a great temperature. All the volunteers were awesome too!

This was my second time doing the Yellowstone Half; I ran the inaugural race 7 years ago as my first half marathon. I was happy to come back and run it again this year. Vacation Races puts on a smooth, well-run event. The course was challenging but beautiful and I really enjoyed the run. I also really liked the shirt design this year, and the sizing seems to finally make sense! (Some of my previous shirts fit really tight.)
