This is my first Sasquatch Racing event, and it was smaller race, and had fewer aid stations and items at the aid station.

They don’t have chip times for the start, but they do for the finish. Not sure why that’s the case, so just be sure you are in the lead.. Then again, you have 13.1 + to catch up and pass.

Not only do you get a medal and a tech shirt, but they have these Woodallions lying on the course. Should you find one, you get get a special prize at the end. I found 4 and one of the prizes i got was a free race for Tick (guess i will e running that one too).

The other differences with this organization is that they do have beer at the end, and instead of getting a goody bag in the beginning, you get a paper lunch type bag full of goodies.

That said, if they added one more AS earlier on, that would have been a help, but i came well prepared and didn’t really need it much.

I used Strava and Fitbit to record my race and it registered 14.1 miles, and 2497 feet for Strava, and 13.7 miles and 2504 feet, so it varied of course. There is a little mismatch on what they say the distance and elevation is, but for me i don’t pay much attention to that..

This was a beautiful course and awesome views of far off mountains.. I was impressed. It had remnants of Double Dipsea with the switchbacks and dodging the roots, and feelings of Trailquake.

There is only one real complaint i have. First, there was one section that it was hard to know if you take a left or a right, so put the flags right after the correct route, rather than at the intersection to the direction you should not go. There was a large area in the redwood switchback section where there was no flags and a bunch of us thought we were lost until we asked a guy if he saw any red flags which he said he had.. Had he not come down with his dogs, we might have turned around. It’ts my belief that the this section probably was marked but probably someone removed the flags, so maybe the day of, have someone go once more through making sure they are still there especially if you know this is a problem areas as i heard one of your people say.

All this said, i highly recommend doing one of their races yourself. They do well.

My headline suggests that 2016 was much better and let me explain.
Last year was my first year. Because i was one of the first to register for the race, it earned you a shirt with San Francisco embroidered on it. The jacket was awesome, but they somehow ran out of my size so i had to settle for one size larger with the embroidered, or my size with out it. Seems they should have figured it out who gets what.

Fast forward to this year, and the jacket was disappointing, the colors i gather were voted on, but i guess i thought it would be a thin layered jacket. That and there was no special embroidering for registering in the first day when it opened. They were suppose to send you a special hat, but that didn’t happen.

So starting this race i was already a bit annoyed. that along with it being hard to get to, being in San Francisco.

Leading up to the race, i wondered if it would be cancelled because of the horrible storm. Instead of cancelling it, they shortened it to a 9.8 k. They couldn’t even make it into a 10k.. What is up with that. They should have just cancelled this race and refunded the money, or figure out how to make it into a 15k or at least a 10k.

Then at the end, the medal was cool, but not as interesting as last year, and their plastic mug of treats was the exact one from the previous year. Recycling old stuff? At least, AT LEAST stamp it with the year.. If its intended to just be thrown away, don’t advertise it as a perk of the race.

Anyway, its a bit of a pain in the butt race, and i don’t think i will do it again without changes…

This race was out at Lake Chabot, but a pretty run since it was on paved and dirt trails. This was my first race at Lake Chabot that was not a half. Kind of felt odd, because most of the people doing the 10k i did not recognize.

The food at the end and hydration is awesome throughout, and the metal is top notch. Their shirts are also wonderful, although i tend to prefer colorful shirts, and they sometimes use gray and black a little too often for my preference. But the art is amazing.

I think i may say this all the time, but i have never found a more down to earth, family, friend, friendly group of organizers and events. You really feel like family there when you go.

This race, for this year was moved from Lake Chabot (the last two years), to Fremonts Quarry Lake where it was flat, but a pretty run since it was on paved and dirt trails.

This race is extra special since its the Streaker Inauguration. What that means is that if your Streaked this year, you got a special number issued to you, a cool shadow box and your own shirt with your number on it.

This was also my very first 10k with Brazen Racing, since i usually do the Halfs.

This run was pretty cool. Lots of people running and lots of people cheering. Cool shirt, although a little much. Prefer the shirt that was blue from 2 seasons ago. MORE

I consider this race the most difficult Half Marathon that exists. This race, in my view is even tougher than Double Dipsea even though Double Dipsea is slightly longer and more elevation. That said, i did better this year than last year but two years in a row of injuries i think i will take a pass next year.

If you want a tough tough Half Marathon Trail race, this is your poison… But its dang nice tasting, at the end.. Or maybe thats the food after… ha..

This is one of the “easier” Ultra series races, but don’t be fooled. Its still tough. It gets dusty and when the sun peaks its head out from behind the overcast, it can get hot. But Brazen Racing is a top notch organization, which spoils you with limitless food and shwag!

This was my first time running this race. The course was much more difficult than i expected, but thats in part because i was not sure what to expect with a water crossing, twice. This course kicked my butt, and at times the terrain was aggravating, with all the sandy places.. But all in all, its not a bad course, but I may not do this race again.

This is a race that will be difficult to PR with soo many people, you end up swimming upstream for the first mile or so. Also, a little surprising that with a race of this magnitude, there was no race medal was okay..
