As usual, VR races are organized, well supported and held in areas that are scenic and, well, a vacation destination. Grand Tetons did not disappoint. I, as well as many other runners I had the opportunity to socialize with, expressed the race difficulty is with the location altitude. I was glad I ran the 5K the evening before and experienced the effect of the altitude. It gave me the opportunity to rethink my next-day, half marathon strategy – not the time I planned, but, had fun. Course is well-supported with awesome volunteers. Medal is definitely “bling”; race shirt is average. I probably will not do again (been there, done that) but have already registered for my next VR at a different location – Antelope Canyon trail half.

Farly scenic, flat, except for an overpass pedestrian bridge, paved route along paved Centennial Trail in downtown Spokane and along Spokane River. 1 major street crossing, with safety crossing and no hold up. Nice start and finish area with plenty of post-race nutrition to choose. Well organized and supported.

I started running Negative Split’s 10K 4 years ago when I 1st moved to Spokane. The course has changed over the years from hilly to pretty level, but much more scenic starting downtown in Riverfront Park, continuing along the Park and Spokane River on the paved Centennial Trail to the turn around then back the same way. There is 1 major street crossing with police stopping traffic for you to cross unheeded. A good finish line nutritional selection. Well organized. If you do the series of the 3 races, the medals will fit together. A keeper…..

Formerly Palm Springs half marathon & 5 K. Move to Palm Desert in 2016. New course not as interesting as previous but as a rectangle has long, straight lines. Available 2-3 person relay teams makes a nice race for walkers or those who want to split and do shorter distances. Smaller local race so no expo & can sign up that am on site. Long sleeve technical shirt. New this year – beer garden with a free beer and No lines!
