The expo was great! I like that they had shuttles. I stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn that was not downtown, I like that it was a .2 point I can’t handle multiple loops or don’t like out and backs, I think it is nice the way they have packet pick up at the airport if you come in late did not, this year was chilly and drizzly, I did the half a couple years ago and the weather was perfect. You just never know with races! But still the temperature. Was fine once you warmed up it was just a drizzle! The volunteers were super nice and helpful, there were plenty of aid sessions and lots of go along the way, Montana is a beautiful area of the country. I wish it had not been raining so I could see more of it this time.

Great race!! Hilly in the beginning and a big hill at the very end but i know it was coming.. as a military mom i loved all the marines there. Should have been a better place for me but i was under trained. I have no complaints about the race.. this year out was supposed to be more crowded because it was the 50 year anniversary. I was so happy to be part of that. Feel especially grateful they had it during the govt shutdown! Seeing the sights along the way in dc was amazing… they did not take us through any sketchy ugly places which i appreciate!

The course was really nice. If you’d like to do a race in Montana, I recommend this one. The first bit is downhill, the rest is flat pretty much, very pretty scenery, the road we can on was good, the medal was cute. I think I will come back to do the full marathon next year. It was a point to point, so was not boring, lots of water stops and volunteers, well marked course. Montana is a very pretty area. The only part I didn’t like was the afterfood, I’m not a fan of that type of salad, but they did have fruit and some other snacks (and that does not reflect upon the race!) Super quick race photos (and free downloads) Pictures were available a few hours after the race!

This was one of the prettiest races I did, The mountains in the background were gorgeous, the volunteers were SUPER FRIENDLY and supportive and I felt the race was run well. The main downfall this was over 4 loops, very hard to cross the finish 4 times and only the 5th time counts! The trail was well maintained and easy to run!
It did have 2 pretty big hills to climb for each loop, but they were a “challenge” and were doable. I almost didn’t want to run because there were only 9 runners (probably since it was not well advertised and first year doing the half) so that made me very intimidated being a slower (2:17) runner. The town was so cute and the weather was on the warm side, so the trail portion that was shaded was VERY welcomed as well as pretty. I hope word gets out that this is a nice race, I would have enjoyed it much more if I wasn’t the 2nd to last person to finish the half! (and I hope they change the course so that it is not looping so many times!!! NOT a fan of loops! You don’t get a medal, you get a cowbell, but it is on a neck ribbon, so it added to my collection nicely. Tshirts were optional, which I liked because I do not usually wear the ones that are “free” and I like that they donate the proceeds! I felt there were definitely enough water/electrolyte stops (and Gu)

I have never done a Vacation Race before but I was VERY impressed. I wanted a pretty and cooler climate to run and this race did not disappoint. I also was very impressed with the amount of emails, details, correspondence we rec’ d from vacation races to help us prepare. There was a lot of fueling stations, which were appreciated and the race itself was SOOOOO beautiful. I also read online that Vacation races has great deferral process if necessary. I am planning on doing the Smokey Mountains AND Rocky Mountain race in 2022, just can’t wait!
