The La Jolla Half Marathon truly lives up to its “amazing” reputation, and as a three-time participant, I can confidently say it only gets better! If you’re looking for a scenic challenge with an incredible atmosphere, this is absolutely the race for you.
From start to finish, the organization is top-notch. Everything runs smoothly, from packet pickup to the perfectly well-placed aid stations that are always stocked and staffed by enthusiastic volunteers. But what really sets this race apart is the breathtaking beauty. The coastline views are absolutely gorgeous, and running along the ocean for so much of the course is an unparalleled experience.
Speaking of the ocean, the finish line festival and runners expo, set right against the water, create an unforgettable vibe. The crowd support throughout the course is fantastic, cheering you on every step of the way. While it’s definitely a course challenge with some memorable uphills, the stunning scenery makes every stride worth it. And when you cross that finish line, the feeling is pure exhilaration – I’ve felt amazing every single time!
This race attracts like-minded runners who are all there to enjoy the experience, the challenge, and the stunning surroundings. If you want an amazing race that combines natural beauty with fantastic execution, the La Jolla Half Marathon is a must-do.

The La Jolla Half Marathon, a race that seamlessly fits into your (runcation) calendar! The fact that it takes place on a Saturday, not a Sunday, was a major plus for me. It meant I could run, finish by 9:30 a.m., and fully immerse myself in the fantastic Finish Line Festival without any rush or stress.
The La Jolla Half Marathon doesn’t just offer a great running experience, but also some fantastic swag. As a participant, you’ll receive a finisher’s shirt, a medal, a tote bag, and even free race photos. But that’s not all. The race also provides additional perks like a recovery area with free massages, cupping, and cold plunges for all runners.
Prepare for a day filled with excitement and joy! This race delivered everything I thought it would. There is only one thing that is bothering me, and it is my time which is off by a whole minute (but I sent in for a correction). Aside from that, I recommend this half marathon to anyone who has not run one before… it is challenging enough to feel inspired but easy enough to run your fastest mile!

It is on a Saturday which is another plus, and the finish line festival is everything! On the water, overlooking the most beautiful parts of the La Jolla, San Diego coastline.

This race gives you 5,000 feet of grueling elevation so make sure to train for this. Not only was it tough like most Spartan races are, but it was just as inspiring! From amazing DJ spun music, to an amazing community, if you like hard things like me, sign up for this race. You won’t be disappointed!
