I highly recommend this race. I was thrilled to discover the beautiful capital city of Harrisburg and even more excited to write the first review! The event had a warm, community-run feel, made even better by the great weather, especially after hearing it rained the previous year.

I decided to join just the day before and registered only a few hours ahead of the start. Everything went smoothly, and one of the highlights was the flexibility to choose your distance on the spot.

If you tend to need water frequently, I’d suggest bringing your own, as hydration stations don’t appear until around miles 4 or 6.

Communication from the organizers was excellent. My last-minute questions were answered promptly, which made me feel confident about jumping in so spontaneously. Another big plus was the convenience both the start and finish lines were within walking distance of the train station, making it very accessible by public transportation.

I chose this race from a list of the most scenic halves. It lived up with the great reviews. It had stairs going up and down. The weather was great this year. I enjoyed the trail without worrying about vehicles. Post run breakfast was great and I also went to hot springs afterwards nearby.
With limited accommodations, I stayed in Hood River, 20 min drive from the bus stop. If you like camping, it’s also an option on site. I strongly recommend this for your destination race.

Overall, it was a fantastic race and I would strongly recommend it as a destination race. It was very well organized with community support. I met a few repeaters of the race. The course was flat and it was supposed to be easy. Unfortunately, I live at the sea level and the altitude got me at the second half. I heard the same from a runner from Seattle, as well.
Post race was great and I particularly liked having real food like pasta salad with beer.

Overall it was enjoyable race with community support in beautiful wild nature. We were lucky without rain or sunshine, but the humidity was 90%! I took 2 hrs+ and I ran mostly alone. The roads stay open during the race, so I felt uncomfortable sometimes even car were not too many. Some fuel stations had no bins or just next to it, so it would be helpful to have them with some distance for us to be able to keep running.
It’s great for a destination race to discover small villages with history. It’s also recommended for people who take longer time. No road closure means no time limit ! We saw the organisers were still welcoming the finishers for many hours !

Overall, it was great. They had many pacers and I got my PR. The route was mostly dry, but the parking was muddy because of rain the day before. The organiser warned us the night before, suggesting to bring rain boots. Of course, I didn’t it travel with them, so I covered my shoes with plastic bags. It worked out well.
The course was beautiful with nature. They say it’s one of the best time of the year. The only thing I would prefer a change is we only receive the shirt after the race. I always run with the event shirt, but I missed it this time.
For logistics, I flew into Burlington and drove down. I enjoyed staying at Align Inn. Unfortunately we were not allowed to walk to the bus pickup, but it’s probably the closest to the finish line. It’s different from big races, but it has a charm of community-run event with nice local cheer squads and some bands.

It’s mostly on the paved trail. I usually drive to check the route before, but I could not do it. I signed up a week before the race and stayed at North Idaho Inn. It was clean, very convenient and reasonably priced. I really liked walking to the start without worrying about parking. It’s a beautiful time of the year, so I recommend it for your destination race.

It was my destination race and I had booked a hotel in old market before they announced the course change from there to Zorinsky Lake. It was picturesque trail with beautiful weather. It was a small event without frills and I felt like it was a group run, instead of a race. Great experience !!

It was around 70F, so some might need adjustment if you are from the North. The route was very beautiful with many shades. It has many turns, so it slows down. Several brave men were also running. Breakfast was light with beer/mimosa, banana and energy bar. Overall, it was a great race destination for the weekend. People in Savannah were very nice, too.

I live in NYC and I ran it for the first time. It was special to run the vehicle lane of BK bridge (new route!) and through Times Square. Of course NYC marathon is the crazy best, but I thought it was the best half in NYC. NYRR organised it very well.

It was amazing and I would strongly recommend it for a destination race. Apparently it’s very popular for returnees. Besides a bit of chaos at the start, everything was well organized. Crowds were great. Two cans of beers were free at post race party, but they started the distribution only at 10AM. Rodeo show and some sightseeing made it a special weekend.

This course has a beautiful ocean view with sunrise. It was my first time with cupless event. I completely agree with the principle of environmental friendliness, but I felt it was simply complicated to stop and lose time.
The event was organized during the long weekend, so it was rather pricey with accommodation. The T-shirt had long-sleeves. I wonder why it was not half sleeves in warm weather…

This race seems to attract bad weather. Good part is both start and finish are indoors. Rain meant less photographer, but I was still glad to get the one at the rocket city center. I felt miserable to run in rain for the first time, but it pushed me to the third award in my age category! I enjoyed participating a race in a small town.

It was very cold at 27F with beach wind at 7 am this year. The route was flat with some trail. It enjoyed the sceneries and the race was well marked. The breakfast had 3 cups of beer, sausage, banana, waffle, bacon, egg, etc.
Everyone started at the same time both for full and half. Even the route was combined at the beginning and the end. It was my first time and some might not like it.
Overall, it was a nice small town to visit for a destination run for the weekend and enjoy seafood.

I loved running on the coast and got PR with the flat course. In 2024, there was no North half. It is a fantastic option for a destination run for the Thanksgiving weekend. The race is a 4 year series of space missions and I can see people go back for collecting all the huge medals. The only confusion was giving water and Gatorade looked the same in Gatorade cups. We are too tired to think on the spot, so it would be great to avoid next time. Otherwise, I really recommend the race!

Richmond had a nice scenery, but running along the river could have been even more beautiful. It was easy flat course and many people had PR/BQ. They had a small gift for BQ. The shirt was unisex, so size down. The exchange was on the following Monday, so unfortunately I had no chance after leaving on Sunday. Overall, it was well organized and many people had memorable time.

NYC marathon is to try at least once in your life time. I live here and it was another level of experience. The crowd cheer you like you are the best friend. You also meet people during the long waiting time at the start village and along the route. It is absolutely a moving experience to everyone.

This is a great race to explore Doha in an unusual way. It was hot this year and it was challenging for me with a jet lag. Unlike other races abroad, there were more male runners. Women restroom had short lines ! Initially I had some communication issues with the organizer on the bib pick-up, but overall I enjoyed experiencing the race in another cultural setting.

The sub-tropical island welcomes you with spectacular scenery. This isn’t an easy route with up and down, including the last 5 km uphill. Locals cheer warmly with traditional drums. All the fatigue goes away with the free post-race party with sushi and sake at the primary school. I cannot recommend more for burning your calories from Christmas and New Year and discovering a cultural island, 300 km south from Tokyo.
