This race is well managed and lots of fun. For someone coming from FLAT land it is a little difficult to work with the few hills. There is one big hill that you have to talk yourself up but other than that…..great race. I love all the swag you get if you do the Challenge.

I love this race. It is a great warm-up for the Sunday races. This year the weather was a little tricky and the race directors did an amazing job of working around the weather. The course is flat and not difficult to navigate.

I have run The Duel half marathon on trails for two years now. This is a small race which makes it more fun on trails because you don’t have to worry about passing people or getting passed too often. There are a few tougher hills here and there but there are also some more gentle areas as well. You never know what the weather may do so you have to be prepared.

Love love love this race. Don’t let it fool you though. It is definitely the most beautiful race I have done but the downhill takes a toll on your legs after a while. There are a few uphills near the halfway point that will have you saying a few not-so-nice words. 🙂 However, I PR’d the first year I ran this race by over 27 minutes!

This is a small race so it makes it fun. The course runs through the neighborhoods, around the college, and briefly down the Rails to Trails. There is shade and wind-block for a large majority of the race and it is mostly flat. It does get hot and unprotected toward the end but there is only one major hill.

This is a tough little race. For one, it is very hilly for this area. Then you have to deal with the wind, but that is very normal for the springtime in the Texas Panhandle. Race starts out pretty fast until you turn around to go uphill for about a mile and a half.

The concert was awesome but by the time is was time to go to the corrals I was already tired. The night race was cool but it was hard to adjust to being up early to run. I started the race with 6,000 steps just because of the logistics to the location and the night race. Running along the Strip was cool.

Love the swag you get with this race. Especially if you the Cowtown Challenge (run one race Saturday and one race Sunday). Yes, the hill at mile 9 is terrible but it feels amazing when you have made it up without walking! I also like that there is an indoor area to meet up with your friends while you stretch and get ready. This is a good one!

I have run the half marathon several times and decided to take the Cowtown Challenge this year. We had a great time and ran an easy 5K. It was beautiful weather and lots of great people. I would definitely recommend the 5K as well as the Challenge.
