Overall a pretty good race. Hills galore! I wasn’t expecting it to be quite so hilly. The production of the race was a bit lacking. I had a question weeks out, emailed the director, never got a reply. They had theor speakers sitting on the table at the start line, so it was impossible to hear anything being said, and the start was lack luster. Me and some fellow runners were like, “Did the race start?” No countdown, gun, and if go was said we didn’t hear it.
The course was open in all the ways a course could be. We ran with traffic mostly, with no police presence or traffic safety at all. This was hairy in a few places bridge and traffic circle.
The swag was fine. A shirt, maple syrup, and a small medal. If you’re close or just need to knock VT off your list, it’s one to consider.

Overall, great race. These are always well organized. It’s my favorite series of races so far. If I had one negative thing to say, it would be the course had a sideways grade that was unpleasant at time. But, they don’t make the roads!
Plenty of aid stations, and good folks to run with. The course was a little shorter than 13.1, me and some fellow racers discussed this and it seems to be a common thing with the VR races. Not sure why. Anyway, great race, well organized, beautiful place to run.

This was my 3rd Vacation Races race. These folks really do a solid job on these events. They offer lots of fuel during and after your race. The views are fantastic too. With plenty of bathrooms on the course you never have to worry about much besides running your race, your way. I will continue to run in these events as long as I am capable. If I had one complaint it would be that the course always seems to be about a 10th of a mile short. I notice this in my previous races and have talked to other participants about it, they agree. If, they could make it a true 13.1, it would be fantastic!

This was my 2nd Vacation Races, race and it was absolutely gorgeous! The course was mostly pavement with a trek of trail, 2 miles or less. I’m not a trail runner but this was my favorite part of the course. It just added to the beauty of the experience. As far as the rest of the course good amount of downhill but not super aggressive. A few up hills as well. I think it was a pretty good balance. Overall a fast course.
Vacation Races always puts on a great event and I have already signed up for my next race with them. As far as this particular race, I would probably do it again if it lined up right. Great weather and loads to do if you like to hike and explore. My Lake Powell race experience was top notch.

This was my first half-marathon and I wasn’t sure what to expect. The overall experience was great! The check in was smooth and well ran. The staff, volunteers, and runners where all friendly and pleasant to talk with. I enjoyed how the course was broken up dirt trail, a speedy/aggressive down hill and rolling hills to finish off. This course, in my opinion, is a test to your training. Solid foot landing, control on the down, and don’t skip your hill runs.
I would say it was a well rounded course, with a beautiful back drop. I’m hooked! I’m looking forward to doing one or two of these Vacation Races events annually. The locations seem to offer more than just a great run with hiking and outdoor activities all near. Truly living up to the series name.
