This has been my favorite half marathon for the last couple years. I loved the challenging course and how well organized the event was. I am not sure what happen this year though. The course changed a few times, and the final course was not as challenging as the past course, it was mostly flat, going through town. The part of the course that went out of town I did not feel safe running, not much for an area for runners with traffic still driving the course, which as many of runners know runners and cars on the same road are not always a good mix. The organization did not seem as on par as in the past either. There were not as many people out to help with course changes or at the water stops, and some of those that were not as attentive as in the past. I also has emailed the organization a couple times prior to the race with questions with no answer, still have not had a response. I hope that next year is better, that this was just an off year for them. This has always been such a great organization to run with.

Overall I enjoyed this race. The bands along the way were fun, the course well marked, and fun fans along the way. The tour through the city was enjoyable, going through the park was wonderful. Signed up for this as part of a family reunion and glad that I did, very enjoyable and well organized.

This was my 5th year doing this SC race, 2 years of the 10k and 3 years of the half. Always such a beautiful course. Very well organized as always, with one minor complaint, which may be just me, I wish they would offer mailing bibs or more Santa Cruz bib pick up options. Loved that this year there was a slight change in the course when going into Wilder Ranch. The course is mainly pavement, with dirt/trail terrain going out to the bluffs in Wilder. The winter had been rough on the trail portion, but hazards were well marked. Lots of volunteers and medical support along the way. Overall just a wonderful race and this year had fabulous weather!

This was my 5th year running this race, after last year I was debating if I would do the race again (last year was very disorganized, not well planned out, and felt to crowded), but so glad I decided to run it again this year. This year was well organized, well marked and overall a fun event. The event had about 6000 runner/walkers and it never really seemed like it was that crowded. Beautiful course, great for all running or walking abilities.

This is one of my favorite races, the races takes you through the beautiful hills of Morgan Hill, which makes the course that much more enjoyable. The course is well marked, lots of water stations ( big plus for me) and very well organized. The volunteers are amazing. The first half has decent hills that can be brutal if you don’t train for hills, with training they aren’t to bad. Overall the race definitely challenges me, but it’s so worth it! Looking forward to future races.

I love this race, let me say that first off, I love the scenery, the local involvement and the local bands. Its great to do with friends, although this last year I did it on my own, my friends couldn’t get registered. This last year was great with how they had the porta-potties set up, they had a lot and they were not near where everyone lined up. Also love that they mail your bib to you, makes life easier.

What I really don’t like is that it is so crowded! If you do not arrive with your friends/family don’t even bother trying to find them, when you are running with 16,000 of your closest new best friends it hard to find the people you are there with. Also with that many people on the course it is hard to get into your running groove/stride whatever you want to call it. This last year I was excited, I finally moved up a corral, thought that would be great, more of the people running it, less of the runners with kids, think again! Several kids in the corral I was in, and it was not a good pace for the little ones (and I mean little ones, like age group of 6 ish), it was almost dangerous because the awareness of the kids and parents was not there. I am all for kids participating, but in the appropriate corrals/pace groups.

Also, registration is difficult. Last year for locals, the computer system didn’t work correctly and then once it did the local spots were gone in 15 minutes. A lot of competition for few spots.

Overall I love this race, it is a great local event. It has just become way to crowded.

I love this race, its for a good cause, and love supporting women being active. Beautiful course along West Cliff. Normally this race is well organized, the 2016 race seemed a bit disorganized. Porta-pottie lines that went into the corral waiting areas, corrals not well marked, not good parking, course not as well marked as in the past. Hoping that 2017 will be better. I look forward to this race every year, always a lot of fun!
