This race was going great for me — great weather (overcast, 50 degrees, slight breeze) and then I hit mile 6.5/7. The hills for miles 7,8, and 9 were intense. The hills literally drained me. I finished the half not with a time that I was happy about but I finished.
I won’t participate in the race again. Huge after party that looked like great fun – if you drink bourbon. Shirt is nice — long sleeve, tech shirt. Medal is okay — has a Jim Beam spinner in the middle of a Jim Beam bottle.
Just like any race, you get out of it what you can/want.

Every year, the “glow” aspect gets better with this race. The swag isn’t impressive (t-shirt), there’s a finishers medal (I didn’t take it), and there’s an after party. The after party this year wasn’t as great in years past. This year the 10k started at 8:30 (half marathon started at 7:30, full at 6:00). I didn’t care for the 8:30 start but that’s my preference. Just a little to late in my opinion.
Overall, a nice event just needs tweaking in a few areas.

This race is a great option for a first timer. The half marathon course is relatively flat and there’s enough entertainment to remain entertained the entire time. The finish line is downhill; there is one “hill” in the race; there are frequent water/powerade stops.
The potty stops were frequent but the lines at each stop were long.
The race expo was boring – basically a regular packet pickup with a few extra people to talk too.
Swag — included was a shirt and then the finisher medal. There were extras available for purchase.
