Nice 5k race at the Mississippi river in Minneapolis. It was very cold (-7 degrees Celsius), but fortunately almost no wind. Well organised. Bibs can either be picked up a day before in St. Paul or at raceway from 1 hour before start (8:45am) at the finish which is round about 800 meters away from the start. Very beautiful long sleeve shirt for every runner. Unfortunately the same medal for 5 and 10k so that I got the same medal twice as I ran both races, which is quite challenging as start of the 10k is just 30 minutes after the 5k start and it‘s around 1k from the finish of 5k to the start of the 10k. Unfortunately I didn’t see any photographers neither along the course nor at the finish. The course is quite hilly crossing the Mississippi once. All in all a nice 5k race!

Great start time at 9am, so I didn’t have to get up super early. The long sleeve shirt is good quality, Storm Creek. Course is mostly flat and out and back course for the 10 mile with 4-6 challenging hills. Very good production as usually with TCM events. Free races for the kids was great. Unfortunately I was unable to stick around for the post-race festival, but the fact they had it was a real nice idea. This is a good race to kickoff your race season and assess you state of fitness.

I enjoyed it, first time doing this one. I hope to do the 10 mile distance next year and catch more of the scenery. A lot of fun donning my flannel being very MinnesOHtan! The hotdish after the race is a fun idea but not my favorite, I enjoyed the Summit Beer! 🙂 I recommend if your in the Twin Cities area for a fun “spring” (always questionable in Minnesota!) race.
This race used to be called 100% Irish. Of course there was an Irish Theme. Not sure why they changed it. Still a good run with a post race Finnegans
