The Sugar Land St. Paddy’s Half Marathon is A GREAT RACE: WEAR GREEN and get your Irish on! Celebrate the last day of Spring Break! Live Irish band “The Jig Is Up!” will play on stage from 8:45am-10:45am. Costume Contest for Most Irish. Start/finish at beautiful Sugar Land Town Square.
If you like a fast, PR-quality course, this is it! UNCROWDED, quality streets, flat, with lots of long straightaways. Start on City Walk Blvd near Marriott and finish on Plaza Drive in the middle of Sugar Land Town Square, with Steve “Smiley” Stewart announcing.
Certified (TX11018ETM), two-loop, PR-course through upscale, heavily-shaded Sweetwater subdivision, running past huge one-acre estates. Odd Mile split is called, along with pace. Field Limit of 500 runners for safety.
Please, headphones are strongly NOT recommended due to single 12-foot-wide lane for runners, with adjacent lane of car traffic, and faster runners lapping from behind. Bagpipers and sound systems on the course and at the finish. Water stations (with lots of loud volunteers) and Gatorade every two miles, and 2 portacans nearby. EMT’s from SLFD, as well as MHSL medical personnel, serve as excellent medical support. Bib-Tag scoring with a 3:00 Time Limit, a pace of 13:44 per mile. Must be 12 years old or older to run. Over 200 enthusiastic volunteers at the race!
TEN great race causes benefit from this event and provide lots of eager volunteers. Finisher’s shamrock medal and green tech shirt in men’s/women’s sizing to each. Free beer offered at nearby Jupiter on the plaza, for those 21-and-over, starting at 9:00am.
