From the pre race activities to the post race finishers village, this race has everything. Then throw in the scenery, the piano player on the Bixby Bridge, the drummers, the strawberries as you near the finish and you begin to realize why this race is on so many runners bucket list.
You better be in your best shape to be able to conquer the hills. But in the end you will be glad you did it. I can’t say enough good things.

Flat and fast. What more can I say. You run through the Sugar Land neighborhoods to the country club then loop around and back. Scenery is not much, but its a nice challenge. Organizers do a great job, lots of free parking close to the start and finish. Great food at the end.

I wanted to enter this race because if you start in the early group (430 AM) there is an 8 hour time limit and I wanted to see if I could do 2 marathons in 2 weeks. I did.
Its not a big crowd but it is a fun one. There are a few spectators especially when you are running along the 5k route, but for the most part you are by yourself in the dark. Swag is good and good food/beer at the end.

This is my second year running the marathon after doing the half for a couple of years. This race is a lot of fun. There are spectators and cheering almost the entire length of the course. Beer towards the end and terrific swag. They organizers have this down to a science and everything goes off without a hitch.

I was able to navigate the hills ok which everybody warned me about but what killed me was what the curves did to my ankles. I will do this again as finishing it is on my bucket list.

My first marathon and at my age (60) I truly questioned if I could do it. But lots of support beforehand encouraged me to try. The course spectators are a blast. Rock bands, mariachis and all kinds of other cheerleaders makes this a fun time. At mile 17, all my neighbors were out. I couldn’t quit then so I had to finish.
It was great to add completing a marathon to my bucket list.
