Less sharp hills, but more total elevation gains, at least as far as my Garmin is concerned…then again, my Garmin regularly missed a beat yesterday. Unfortunately, they ran out of tater tots before I crossed the line.

Course was an 6 loop course of just over 1 mile from point to point. (2+ mi / loop). The Course was in the Ashley Watershed and the scenery was beautiful. The course was mostly packed dirt.
As usual, the aid station support is fantastic, and there is always some hot food at the aid station in addition to various drinks and snacks.
race medal is in the shape of Massachusetts, with nice details, and is part of the series chain of medals.
Nearby attractions include the Dr. Seuss Museum, The Basketball Hall of Fame, and the Volleyball Hall of Fame.
Part of the appeal of Mainly Marathons is the people you run with, and become friends with after repeated days together on the course.
So for a fun, yet challenging way to complete your states, sign up for a multi-day series!

This run was very beautiful at the Ashley Reservoir in Holyoke, MA. Mainly Marathon puts on a top notch run and is very organized. The food is the best and they keep your water full the entire time!

Mainly marathons is a well-organized company that puts on series of runs of various lengths. This one was on a wide, smooth trail of crushed gravel. It was near Ashley Reservoir in Holyoke, MA. The course started out going through some picturesque woods, and then by several ponds of Ashley Reservoir. There was a lot of wildlife seen on the course including white-tailed deer, beaver, and Eastern chipmunks. The course was a 1.1 mile out and back that was repeated 14.5 times for the 50K and 12 times for the marathon distance. The wide trails of Ashley Reservoir made for an excellent venue for this rapidly expanding series, as there was plenty of room for passing on the trails.
