This is a race that seems to have a cult following. It is a difficult race a long uphill and then a final downhill to the finish. It is more of a party crown and expect to have your entire day taken up by the race. It starts at noon. You need to be responsible for some of the transportation logistics. At the end their is a bus that will take you back to the east side of Boise but not all of the way back to the finish. Expect to wait a long time for the bus (if you don’t opt to get on it fairly soon after finishing) and once you are on the bus it takes a bit to get back to the east side. There is no medal. The shirts are average. At least this year they featured a dry wick shirt and a women’s fit. There is plenty of good food and drink at the finish line. The packet pick up is a pain due to limited parking downtown. You have to be ready to register as soon as registration opens or you will get shut out. I will probably take a few years off before running it again.
I don't get it

This race is brutal and so worth it! 8.5 miles of climbing 2100 feet and then 5 miles of decent to the finish line. It’s intense but truely the most rewarding half marathon I’ve ever ran!
Prepare to hurt!

I love this race, but it doesn’t matter how many times I run it, IT NEVER GETS EASIER! 9 miles uphill is a lot of uphill, and 4 miles of steep downhill after don’t really help. That won’t stop me from running again, because when you finish a race like this you feel amazing!!!
Just as tough as I remembered...

I was coming off a major injury and had just been cleared to run again when I registered for this one. I maybe should have waited another year. The course seemed especially brutal this year and I finished with blood streaming down my heels, and a wicked sunburn. Still, I felt really great about having finished such a difficult race so early into my recovery. Looking forward to running again!
