The Dirty Dozen 12- & 6-hour endurance run, put on by the amazing folks at Brazen Racing, is like an all-day party. Runners and their families come early to setup pop-up tents & camping chairs as a place to rest or, in most cases, cheer the runners on as they run/walk/hike a 3.37 mile loop at Point Pinole in San Pablo, CA. Runners can either sign-up for a 12- or 6-hour endurance run. Brazen also offers a morning 5k or 10k AND an afternoon 5k or 10k. So many choices to run! AND…the 12 & 6 hour runners can add the 5k or 10k to their run to can a BONUS medal!
What stands out most for this event is how well organized and prepared Brazen Racing is for the athletes. The aid stations are spread out at the half-way point on the 3.37 mile loop and at the beginning/end of the loop. There is plenty to eat & drink at each aid station as well a BBQ being hosted for runners during the day. The main aid station at the beginning not only has the regular assortment of water, electrolyte drinks, pretzels, chips, candy, cookies, fruit, etc. but they are also cooking up quesadillas, grilled cheese sandwiches, Nutella & banana sandwiches, bacon, and more. Pickles & potatoes are available for those seeking salty or briny foods!
The course is well-marked with virtually no way to get lost.
Music is playing all day and kids who join their families are playing at the playground.
The staff & volunteers are super friendly, always asking how & what they can do to assist the athletes during their run.
The Dirty Dozen race is simply an amazing event. I would highly recommend it to any seeking to have a GREAT time at a race.
