This was my first marathon and I had an amazing experience. This year there were nearly 40,000 runners, and it was definitely congested at times, I think the race coordinators did a pretty good job with the execution of the race. The water stations remained stocked even for me who finished in the bottom 25% of runners. We could’ve used some more port-a-potties throughout the course, but this was mostly due to the influx of runners this year. It was easily forgotten by the phenomenal crowds throughout the course. They were lively and cheering from the first finisher until the last. The cherry on top for me was the marines throughout the course and especially the one who gave me my medal. This is why I chose this marathon and why I plan to do it again next year.

I loved every second of this marathon. The marines lining the race were so motivating. Additionally the spectators screaming as we passed by really kept me going. It was amazing to see Washington D.C. through such a unique lens. While this definitely one of the most challenging things my body and mind have ever been through, I can’t wait to do it again!
