Vacation Races puts on amazing races and they are all so different. This was was very difficult due to a 6 mile leg of trail running that was pretty much single file the entire 6 miles. It was hard to pass walkers and slower paced runners, therefore it messed up some of our times. The trail had lots of rocks large and small that were hard to run on and or by. The aid stations had everything we needed and were placed accordingly. The staff goes above and beyond to make their runners happy and it was very pretty! I would recommend it to anyone who is trying to complete their series and or is an experienced trail runner, but bring your trail shoes!

This race had amazing views of the forest and Mount Rushmore. Plus it was run on a world famous road! I absolutely loved it and am sad it might have been the last one. The only bad thing about it was the level of difficulty. Those hills were something else! I ran them in what felt like slow motion while many others walked. I don’t blame them, but I had a goal and was running in memory of my dad so I worked hard and met it.
