Wish the announcer could be heard passed the starting line. I was in Corral 6 and could barely hear the National Anthem (really the only complaint). The first 8/9 miles will be deceptively easy, then the rolling hills will start gnawing away at you until the final 5 miles or so. Luckily, the finish line is downhill!

This was the LARGEST race I have ever attended and wonder why this isn’t considered a world major?? Plenty of the usual gels, water and nuun at just about every mile marker. There was even Coca-Cola and candy! The neighborhood came out in full force! There was vaseline, snacks, drinks (of all “kind”). I was hoping to finish in about maybe 5:40/5:50, but I’m easily bribed with food and drinks.

The vibe for the early starters, 6:30am was no music, handful of people and not much chitchat from the MC. The 7:30am runners received the blast of music, cheering from the crowd to really get runners going.

For FIRST timers, please pay attention to the course map before hand or during the run. Unless there was a mile marker, there were taped arrows on the ground that may or may not still be intact. Also, don’t always assume the course will go straight, had to help a runner before he decided to go who knows where.
