The most scenic race I’ve ever run! There was some small inclines, but no hills worth noting and mostly flat. It’s the first marathon out of 5 that I was able to run the entire 26.2. The aid stations were plentiful with water and Gatorade at each. Race swag included an Avenue of the Giants bag, tie die shirt, and an awesome medal. Would recommend for beginners to advanced!

Beautiful course, but don’t let the elevation chart fool you! There are some major ups and downs they refer to as rollers. The first two miles is a fast downhill and a flat gorgeous run next to the river. You get to run through an old railroad tunnel which is fun!
I guess it usually rains but our race was sunny and in the 70s. You run right into the sun and there isn’t a lot of shade so that can be challenge if you are used to running in normal January weather.
The rollers from mile 10-14 are the tough ones. There are a few minor hills later on, but these ones killed my energy. There were aid stations but they only had water, watered down tailwind, and chocolate GU so bring your snacks if you can’t do GU. The end was actually a whole half mile off so you end up running a little extra. They do have tons of food at the end including pie and chocolate milk.
The race swag is awesome! Great shirts, HUGE medal, and great age division plaques. Because this is a small marathon you might place in your age group even if you don’t normally.
Overall amazingly gorgeous course following the Sacramento River, three bridge crossings, and paved trails. A few hard hills, but as long as you train for some hills it’s definitely worth doing.

This course has a lot of runners, and hardly anyone puts themselves where they should start, so you end up elbow to elbow with people for the first five miles or so. The race support is amazing! The aid stations are plentiful with everything you need including sticks with Vaseline, GU, water, Gatorade, and people there to rub icy hot on your legs. The course is mostly downhill and on the stretch throughout veyo with the big hill the entire town comes out to high five and cheer. The entire last mile there were people lined up cheering, spraying you down with water, and handing out popsclicles and soda. Great race!

It is an interesting course with road, sidewalks, bike path, dirt roads, and even a little bit of single track trail thrown in. No real hills of note. Great crowd at the end but not much for spectators throughout. Beautiful course through the trees and a HUGE medal.

I ran this race with an injury, so my time was less than ideal. The course is so flat and the weather nice and cool you could really crush this course. The course is a gorgeous loop from Kenai to Soldtna and back. The fall colors and running through the trees and over the river is amazing. The last few miles are on the sidewalk next to the road so it’s less pretty, but they packed the best aid stations for last. All aid stations were volunteers that had a ton of snack options. They were really encouraging toward the end. No spectators or crowd at the end as this is a tiny marathon! At some points I was completely alone on the course. They do give you a piping hot hot dog at the end. Small medal, but great shirt! Worth doing if you like running alone.
