About Me

  • Running club(s):
  • Rave race:
  • Race that's calling my name:

    Marine Corps Marathon

  • I run because:

    I was never a fast runner growing up, usually in the back of the pack during gym class and that one semester I did track in high school.

    I attempted my first marathon while I was living in Norway with the Oslo marathon in 2015. I trained for months, however, my body began to slow down once I approached the halfway point, then completely gave out by mile 16.

    It was always the accomplishment that got away, but as I approached 30 my quarter-life crisis kicked in and I decided I wanted to run, and more importantly FINISH, a full marathon.

    In 2024 I proceeded to do that with the St. Jude marathon in Memphis. And in 2025, 10 years after my first attempt, I finished the Oslo marathon alongside my little brother.

    Now, the journey continues.

I don’t think anyone could have prepared me for how much uphill running was on this course. TBH I should’ve known better so I’ll take that, but minus a few stretches, the scenery was an immaculate tour of the city, with landmarks, neighborhoods, and real good vibes when the spectators were there. Given the heat I was not expecting to do as well as I did so I was pleasantly surprised. Is it perfect, no, but it’s got heart and a real sick medal! My favorite medal so far.

The race did not disappoint. The expo was beautiful, everything was great quality, and I’m so thankful they moved on from the plastic medals. They’ve recently taken an eco-friendly approach and made the medals out of recycled material, it had been plastic, but this was the year they made it out of recycled metal and so it definitely had the same medal feel runners know and love.
Outside of the 2 killer hills (that you have to redo on the second loop), you see everything, the city, the parks, the famous racing landmarks, and finishing on the docks, it’s magnificent. Cannot recommend enough.
