This was my 18th half marathon. I thought this was an excellent race for Cedar Rapids.
Course: The course was flat and fast – but only through mile 3.5. It did flatten out after mike 8, which was nice. The long hill up Edgewood Rd. and though the following neighborhoods were pretty hilly. I loved having bike support on the course! It was nice to have them check in on us as we were doing the half. The bike support was easy to find, as they were wearing yellow tops.
Expo: Awesome! Lots of booths. Very happy that the CR Marathon had Charity Partners – His Hands Free Clinic and Zach Johnson Foundation.
Swag: The tech shirts are amazing!! It would have been nice if the half also got a hat like the full marathoners did – because those hats were amazing! We also got socks and a bunch of coupons to use to local businesses.
Support on the course: Awesome!! Lots of water stops and snacks. Loved the energy of the race. Volunteers were AMAZING and so positive and encouraging!
Conclusion: EXCELLENT from start to finish! I already signed up for the half next year. A huge perk was also having free race photos!!!
