Due to road damage, the original course was a no go. The race directors were able to secure an alternate route in a timely manner and still hold the race.
They were great at communicating the changes and everything ran smoothly. The only exception was when we chose a bus pick-up, several runners were not able to do so due to a glitch in the system. Once at the expo, it was super easy to pick the bus location at that time.
The expo was decent and they had a decent selection of merch.

The course was an out and back from Carmel.
While I was bummed to not run the original course, this was still a beautiful route. It was very hilly, so my quads were trashed by mile 20, however that was on me for not training hill as well as I should have. There is a very steep camber on the road near the Carmel Highlands, so I’m glad I didn’t wear my unstable super shoes.
We got to see the piano player twice and a few sets of drummers, which was awesome.
Everyone involved was fantastic. From the people at the expo, to on course support to finisher tent, we always felt encouraged and welcome.
The finisher medals were very cool. I got both the Big Sur and Boston 2 Big Sur medals which was even better. The other B2BS swag was just okay. The rabbit finisher jacket was a fairly ugly corral color, which was a bummer.
I hope to come back next year and get to run the original course, as it was the prettiest coarse I’ve run, and the people were fantastic!. I would not pay the extra for B2BS again though, as the swag and that jacket I probably won’t wear again due to the color was not really worth it.
