Hard to take it seriously

Scenic, but a LOT of things went wrong.
Saturday 5k was too short, 2nd half-marathon was short by 0.5 miles (I heard that the 1st one was a bit short too). Marathon was 26.5 miles, not due to tangents, you can see in race results that almost EVERY runner has a pace drop in the last 2 miles (because it was longer than this).
I was assigned a wrong corral and “my” pacer started 5 mins before me.
My bib was mailed (paid $20 for it), so I had to collect my shirt and jacket after the race. The shirt pickup was in a different place than the jacket pickup. Both a long way from the finish line (imagine walking there after the race).
And did I mention that they ran out of jackets? Oh, and also MEDALS on Saturday 5k?
All of this for $200.

This race is so fun! The scenery is beautiful – the arts in Eugene, natural preserves, bridges near the Wiliamette river and, of course, the finish on the Hayward stadium. I had to take this race easy but it was a great decision, as the course was so pretty.
And – rather fast and flat. There are some rolling hills but not intimidating.
The expo – very crowded but the lines to packet pick-ups were short.
Swag – great medal quality with a piece of the stadium and a Nike T-shirt – nice! You also get a beer and pancakes after the race. 🙂
Volunteers and spectators were THE BEST and they were seen all along the course!
Production – awesome, I liked that the gels were still available for slower runners and there were buses taking you to/from the race, in multiple locations. Toilets, water and aid stations every few miles.
I understand why this race is a classic!

Overall the 10k course was good, a small hill in the first half, the second half was very fast. The smell of Everett is very specific, I will remember it for sure. Train sounds were quite distracting. It’s always nice to see the marina and run near the water. There weren’t may spectators on the course. The volunteers made great work. The wooden medal is very nice and the hoodies looked great. There was an option not to take the hoodie and pay less. I would recommend this race.

It was my first half marathon, I am not a fan of Seattle, but was excited to see the city views while running.
The course starts under the highway, there is a tunnel and nothing to see. The weather was good for running, but we couldn’t see any views on the highway because of the mist. The course is quite tough, the flatest part is on a shared path, so you are passing bikers, people walking their dogs etc.
There was only 1 aid station with gels (for half marathoners)! There were no gels left when I ran to this station. So even if you had planned how to approach the course, well, you could be disappointed.
Great medal and long sleeve.
