  • I run because:

    I run with the flag to honor those who serve and have served our country.  It allows me to remember my freedom.  I also work in an office.  Running helps me stay active and helps my mind to settle.  It helps me stay healthy.  Running is also an avenue to build relationships with others.  I lead a running and walking small group that helps others get started with running or to just maintain their fitness level.  It brings me the most joy to see their growth and progress.

This was Garmin’s first race and they didn’t disappoint! The swag bag included very practical tools including a tech shirt and for all distances run. The scenery was a mix of city and the river. It has some elevation gains – including the last mile there’s a high level bridge that increases 100ft elevation. If you plan ahead for it – you’ll be ok. Strong support of fuel on course including gels twice, Gatorade and water and porta potties throughout the course. The community supported well too. Weather was average for early fall. Local runner pacers were available at good paces. I used one the first mile to set my pace well and she was helpful. I liked the out and back of part of the course. It was good to see other runners!
