Bring water support with you, there were many aid stations along the course, but on some of the longer hills, had this been a warmer day extra water would be good to have. The race was well managed for it’s 5th year and a new course, all the staff and volunteers where friendly and helpful. If you need crowd support to help you get through a course, this may not be a good choice for you, but where there were cheering crowds, they were loud an excited for you.

A good experience for the young and old for sure. The packet pick up and trade show were very well organized. You could get in and get out quickly, or stay and see all the booths. Jim Ryun was the official starter this year. The race itself was a typical chilly morning, changing to Blue skies and sunshine by start time. In a new twist the Vulture located at the top of Doomsday Hill had visitors this year with mascots from all the local sports teams cheering you up the 1 mile hill. The finish area was easy to get through and an unexpected bonus was the slightly longer walk to The Shirt pick up. I would say for me the only downside is that due to construction at river front park, there was only a small patch of grass for stretching and relaxing.

This is a great family weekend race. Starting with the expo on Friday, the kids Marmot March and festival on Saturday and ending with the big Race on Sunday. Bloomsday has a beautiful course with 2 large hills, spring blooms are just finishing and the greenery is wonderful. Pause at the top of “Doomsday Hill” and take your picture with the Vulture. Turn and look at the other 40,000 plus runners sharing a great day with you.
