I always enjoy the OC Half Marathon because the course is scenic and the organizers do a great job in putting on the event.

I took the shuttles from the Fairgrounds to the start line for the first time. This was a very smooth process with many buses lined up and an efficient process to get them loaded. The course is super scenic and the views of the ocean and back bay can’t be beat! With the race starting so early, there isn’t much in terms of course support through most of the race but those that are out there are appreciated.

The post-race is always a good time – the post-race refreshments are good and then there is a good atmosphere with the vendors, band, and run clubs all in the fair area.

Always a good time and definitely will be back in the future!

I really enjoyed this race and thought it was well organized!

The expo was small but easy to navigate and quick to get your items. I appreciated the later starting time and how nicely gear check and the start line were laid out adjacent to the National Mall. The course was enjoyable and appreciated the different neighborhoods that we ran through. My least favorite part was probably the long stretch on the Potomac Parkway and the hill around Mile 6 getting off the parkway was definitely tough! The view of the US Capitol while you ran down Capitol Street was fantastic and obviously, uniquely DC. I thought there was pretty decent support along most of the course which made it a nice, enjoyable run. The post-race area seemed fun and the band playing made for a good atmosphere.

We stayed in a hotel near the start of the race which was super convenient in the morning. We ended up having a friend meet us at the finish and then walking a couple of blocks away from the finish to take an Uber back toward the start. Not sure how the parking situation was but it did take a second to be able to get the Uber so it may be easier for us if our friend had parked at the finish and then we drove away.

Overall, it was a great race and a fun time!

This is one of my favorite races to run because it’s tough to beat the energy and visual stimulation of the Las Vegas Strip at night!

The field for the half was much smaller than in years past but the infrastructure in place was there to support a much bigger field. I thought the start village and walking path to the start line was much smoother than when I raced in 2019. I like the start/stop light system that is used to start races much more than the previous mass starts because it allows for more spacing between runners while you get going. The first two miles while not narrow streets, were much more narrow than usual because of road construction so not having the mass start was preferrable.

I always enjoy the lights of the Strip as you turn back and head north toward Downtown Las Vegas. There was so many people lined up in the early part of the race so that made it exciting. The course is about as flat as can be but the road is beat up in places so I did have to keep an eye out. One of the only negatives was how dark is can get in the part of the course that connects the north end of the Strip to downtown. In a couple sections you could see that street lights were completely out which added to the darkness but in other spots that were “lit”, a couple of light towers would have been welcome.

Overall, this race is one of my favorites just because of how big and exciting everything is. We stayed at the Flamingo which was a quick walk to the Start Village and adjacent to the exit of the finish secure zone. While the race technically finishes by the Mirage, you still have to walk to the end of Caesar’s Palace to exit the secure zone so the hotels in that area are preferrable if you don’t want to have to double-back to get to your room.

The updates to the 5K for 2022 were greatly appreciated! Having run the 5K back in 2019, I really enjoyed the new downtown course and especially finish. Given we were running the half marathon the next day, we were just looking to have an easy run and enjoy the atmosphere and the new setup was just that. The final stretch to the finish line at twilight with all the Fremont lights was fantastic!

Great local race! Parking at the start line is easily navigated with shuttles available after the race to get back to your car. The views of the ocean through Corona del Mar and Newport Beach are beautiful. The support on course is lacking although the existing support is placed well on the most challenging sections of the course. The aid stations were well supported and there were plenty of porta-potties at each once you pass mile 6. Overall, a great event!

It was my first time running the Cherry Creek Sneak and while it used to be bigger in the past, the atmosphere is still fun. Parking for the 10 Miler was a breeze given that all the meters in CC are turned off on Sundays. Registering on race day was very quick and painless. The 10 Miler had fewer than 1000 participants to starting and getting into race pace was easy. The course takes you around the Cherry Creek Mall and into the local neighborhood. The 10 Miler runs around Cheesman Park which was a nice visual change – it also injected some uphill into the course. You’re running right into the sun on two occasions – once for about a mile on 7th Ave and again in the last mile before the finish line – my sunglasses were helpful! The aid stations were spaced well (only serve water) but there was only one porta-pottie along the entire 10 mile course. Overall a nice event.
