This was my first race with VR and it was very well executed!
The expo they had s’mores! I was sold from here on out 🙂 The shirts were basic free shirts but lots of nice ones for sale as well.
The race starts and end at the same place which was nice. Although Old Tucson was not open during the race and everything happens right outside of Old Tucson. I was looking forward to running through it.
The race itself starts off for the first 7 miles on a hilly paved road. Seven through nine are on a narrow rocky trail that doesn’t seem well traveled then it turns into more of an actual trail. It’s pretty much impossible to try to pass anybody in the narrow spots. But everyone seemed to keep a good pace, walking up the hills and running down.
Nice friendly aid stations every couple miles. All the volunteers and staff seemed really pleasant and welcoming. Will be there again!
Oh and coffee and hot chocolate at the start line. Yum!

The first 8 miles are beautiful. On the side of a highway but still beautiful. The production was seamless with the warm shuttles and air stations throughout.
Basically zero swag to mention and no energy gels at the aid station but enjoyed it and will do it again next year.
