Overall, the Eugene Marathon was awesome. The course is pretty easy (it is rolling, not flat, but the rolling hills can buy you some cheap time) and allows for a great PR opportunity for everyone. How could one not love finishing at Hayward Field down that last 200m? Truly the most unique race I’ve ever been in.

Being able to hang out with supporters behind the field on the turf is also awesome, so much better than standing around or sitting on a curb. Post-race pancakes were great as well!!

My main gripe is starting the half and full marathoners together at the same time. The road is very narrow for the first several miles and it makes it unironically a battle out there, especially with more inexperienced folks.

The only other critique I have is the design of the swag. The Nike apparel is awesome and I got a sweatshirt, but I thought the design was a little lackluster. Maybe darker greens for the sweatshirts and larger logos on the main sweatshirts as well. They get away with it cause they’re Nike branded and comfy, but I’d pay a few more bucks for a cooler design.

Overall, great race, huge PR opportunities, and tons of fun.

I’ve ran TC multiple times and have had a great race there, however, after the sh*t show they had last year (thankfully was not running), I will never advise this race to anyone.

The fact that they took away people’s opportunity to race, last minute while knowing the temps were going to be where they were, while also doing it after people got on busses, rented hotels, got family there, is absolute crap.

I highly recommend staying far away from this race, as the operators seem to think they’re more knowledgable of making decisions for people’s health than the actual people in the race.

Races have been done in warmer temps, and TC really sh*t the bed here.

Like I said, never coming back.

Ogden is a very unique race, because while it is mostly downhill, it is still at substantial altitude.

I think the race was very well operated and aid stations were good. The swag was also pretty solid and better than I anticipated.

Ogden is a bit unique as well because there aren’t a lot of spectating spots, since you get dropped off in the canyon.

This isn’t really a rip on the race, since it adds to the immense beauty you run through, but for spectating families that can be a bit of a bummer.

Overall, altitude makes it challenging, but it’s downhill, well-run, and good swag. Would recommend for anyone who trains and races at altitude and/or is looking for a beautiful, scenic, and well-run race.

I went to UWEC so I ran this course quite a few times.

Overall, the course is great and relatively easy in my opinion. Not a ton of gain other than 2-3 hills and a great downhill around mile 20.

The only thing I’d say they can improve is having the expo at a nice indoor location (2022 was not indoor and it wasn’t ideal). And also having higher quality swag. I definitely would’ve paid more money for higher quality materials for sweatshirts or shirts as well.

Independent of all that, the course is great, the crowd support is incredible, and it’s very clearly the best small town race in America.

Great aid stations, decent expo. I ran this a few years ago but I remember everything being pretty smooth, but I remember not being astounded by the swag or expo purchases to be honest, so maybe a little more pizzazz on that front.

The course has a ton of turns and some nice scenic spots at times, but it feels a bit forced in the city to be honest. Easily PR’able and great aid stations.

The only main gripe I have is how the marathon and half marathon join back together. When you get walkers in front of you on a 6 foot-wide bridge and trail while you’re trying to crank out the last few miles, it is extremely frustrating.

Either stagger start times more or pick different days for the race, because that’s my main memory is having to duck and dodge people walking.

Grandma’s is really a special race. I ran it nearly several years back now but I remember it like it was yesterday.

The race production is astounding. They offer a spaghetti dinner (fingers crossed they still have it) the night before which was super awesome. The swag is great and well run and it just has a great vibe overall.

The course is beautiful and feels like you’re running next to an ocean with the vast view of Lake Superior and the flat course is wondrous if you’re looking for a PR.

Finishing in Duluth is wild and the crowds are powerful.

Highly recommend this race
