I ran the 10K at the Jump Off Rock event and was really happy with the experience, and I hit my second-best 10K time.
The course goes through a scenic part of Hendersonville, including a nice section around Osceola Lake. While the race is described as mostly downhill, it felt more rolling than expected. There are a few longer descents, but also some steady hills, especially in the latter part of the course. That said, they weren’t as tough as the elevation profile might lead you to believe.
Race organization was solid. Course markers were clear, and volunteers were friendly and well-placed. No confusion on the route other than the local PD stopping the race to allow car traffic. Yes, they stopped the runners.
The medal was well-designed and a nice takeaway. The only real area for improvement would be the race swag; some better sponsor gear or more thoughtful extras would add value and the above issue with the local PD.
Overall, a well-run race in a great location. I’d definitely run it again.
