I went to Bay Breeze with my girlfriend as my first ever 5k. We were both a little nervous, and our stomachs reflected that. Thankfully, we were able to find nice washrooms at the Inn on the way to the race start from the parking.

The race was very well organized (again I’ve never seen other races for comparison), we reached around the time the 10k was starting. We got some pictures and got our bibs and race swag. After a few stretches, we lined up.

As soon as the gun went off, off we went! The start was on grass and due to the rain the prior days it was all muddy and we had to be careful about not twisting an ankle or something. Once we got on the pavement, it was smooth sailing.

I was a bit behind but I slowly gained speed and ovetook people on the left off the pavement. The course was paved going to the half way mark with nice views of the bay. There were a couple supporters, photographers and people handing out waters around the 1 mile mark.

At the half way mark, you turned around and came back the same way but off the pavement. The ground was a little wet so we had to go to the pavement to avoid the water. I ended up finishing the race before the goal time of 30 mins!

Once I crossed the finish line, the volunteers handed us medals and water bottles. They had decent snacks for replenishing. We got a couple pictures from the volunteer photographers and headed back home.

Amazing first race experience!
