Wroclaw Marathon

The Wrocław Marathon (formerly run under the name Maraton Ślężan) is a beautiful fragment of the history of running in Poland. The beginnings of the Wrocław marathon runs date back to 1983.

The previous marathons included events such as: Veterans’ Championship in Marathon, European Marathon Championships in Marathon and Polish Marathon Championships. The organizers were: Dzielnicowy Sport and Recreation Center Wrocław-Stare Miasto, Municipal Sports and Recreation Center “Południe” in Wrocław, Maraton Wrocław Association.

Since 2008, the marathon organizer is the Youth Sport Center Wroclaw. In the years 2009-2012, the main and titular sponsor was Przedsiębiorstwo Produkcji Farmaceutycznej Hasco-Lek. In 2013, we started cooperation with PKO Bank Polski SA, which in 2013, 2014 and 2015 was the general sponsor of the run. The fruitful cooperation is also continued in 2016 and 2017 – PKO Bank Polski SA became a titular sponsor.

Players have a time limit of 6 hours net. Competitors who reach the time of over 3 hours on the halfway of the marathon are obliged to stop the race and leave the running route. All players who do not reach the finish line until 15.30 are obliged to stop the race and leave the route or reach the finish line by a minibus with the word MARKET END.
